The Opening of Watcher of the Skies by Genesis really reminds me of the song playing in Final Fantasy 9 when you get to fly the invincible.
For some reason, I actually think that the song was borrow from watcher of the skies, cuz it has the same melody as i remember it. If i can only find it on the net i could make another comparison, cuz i havent owned my playstation for a while.

even the music in the calssic mario games are proggy!
I was watching some G4 (videogame channel) and I noticed that alot of
the videogame composers where influenced by progressive rock.

Yeah, one of the things Herman Li was saying about the new album was
that they made a lot of video game noises with thier guitars. I've only
heard a couple of songs, but the "going down a tube" noise from the
Mario games was cool .

Yeah, I've always thought that, too. Steve Vai did some of the music
for the game (pretty much any time you hear an electric guitar, that's
him), so that would explain it a bit.

Bowie did some stuff on the Nomad Soul, which was unfortuantely great music on a turkey of a game! At one stage if you manage to get a ticket to a certain club, a cyber-Bowie performs live as a bonus.

I agree with The Black Mages saying. They sound pretty good, quite different from what is comonly heard. Actually some J-Rock have kind of a progressive touch, like Malice Mizer, for example.
In general, there are many videogames, specially RPGs with good soundtracks, usually with lots of orchestral elements. I'm also a fan of videogames music as well and I don't think that is particulary bad

Let's see your Curriculum Vitae.
I recently saw a movie of some japanese guy playing all three voices of the original Mario-music, he also replicated various in-game sounds(Jump, pick up coins, beat the crap out of the Enemy, und so weiter)here and there. If only he'd use his powers for good.

I used to listen "Songs from The Wood" by JETHRO TULL when playing...

...with Amiga500, and now there's an association with these.

Actually, when you think about it, Yes's, Tull's or Genesis' music
would fit well in Zelda. As a Zelda-fan, I would appreciate it!
Anyone here played Halo 2? The sountrack is really proggy, I could compare it with King Crimson's or Rush's heaviest.

For some reason I've always asociated Pigs (Three Different Kinds) with the graveyard section in Red Faction 2, the creepy music goes with the creepy atmosphere. Joe Satriani's Summer Song works well on Gran Turismo 4 as well.
