only like floyds older(syd)stuff and i never liked genesis. yes and crimso are two of my favourite bands and have such different sounds and qualities...but if I had to be stranded on an Island with one or the other I'd have to choose King Crimson.Athough it would be a crime to have to choose.

In my opinon these are the giants of 70s prog:
Genesis
Yes
Gentle Giant
King Crimson
Pink Floyd
Van Der Graaf Generator
Rush
Jethro Tull
I think those are all of them. I did not chose Camel, mainly because I have
never really gotten into them. Though I think Gabriel era Genesis is better
than King Crimson I can't argue that they are the ultimate progressive
band. They all still progressing to this day and have not put forth a bad
pop album (and in my opinion have not put forth a "bad" album.
Mediocre, sure, but not bad.)

King Crimson. They define the genre, no other band are still on the road with strong steps like them.... Long live the king..
and then came Pink floyd, Genesis and Yes.

mmm...King Crimson always comes out last in this kind of threads...
NOT FOR ME!
King Crimson (the only band that has mantained their prog ideals...and still managed to change more than any other band)
Yes (in the ´70 they did THE prog music...not just prog...THE prog)
Genesis (with Gabriel of course...now that was an awesome line up!!!)
and...with a little distance, not too much thought...Pink Floyd (just with Waters...how dare they go on without him?)
