I think for me familiarity with ELP, Yes & genesis has bred
some contempt. Each group still has its moments and there are still
tracks I enjoy, but I could never listen to a full album by any of them
in one stretch. I haven't listened to any genesis for years now.
In my teens/20's I wore out grooves of BSS, CTTE, Relayer & Tarkus LPs.
I'm just glad prog is broad church and there are many smart cookies on
this forum recommending new groups to check out all the time.

Funny - I don't like 3 of those - just Floyd! But we're all entitled to our opinion.

The only prog band I've heard that I don't like is Triumvirat.I can find something I like by all others (I've heard). So the question is;:
Do you really dislike all tracks/albums by Yes,ELP and Genesis? If you are a prog fan then I find that hard to believe actually.Sorry.

i dislike yes except for relayer... genesis angers me because the rest
of the guys could hardly make up for phil collins's suckiness.
phil collins =
yes and genesis are of among the few progressive bands i really dont like that much.

Absolutely valid taste frog a prog forum we don't need to have the same tastes, I don't like most King Crimson (Except ITCOTCK and Red which are great) or Mars Volta so we're even.

I can respect your dislike of the Big Three. However, I really believe that you are missing some increadible music. Having been in my teens & early 20s when these bands first gained prominence, perhaps I took to it without much thought; kind of like kids today listening to Britney & all the others.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like every single song on every album, but most if their stuff is very listenable. I may be one of the few YES fans that doesn't like Relayer or Tales. I do like most of their stuff before that & a lot of it after. I'm all over Genesis all the way through Invisible Touch, & about 99% of ELP is to my liking.
To each his own - enjoy what you enjoy & forget the rest.

i dont have the time to explain why i dont like them, and who really cares " i can suppose you like more uneven and avant- garde than academic sound" you are right on that.

not really ( believe me, i have heard it about 30 times as a whole
album) in my opinion tarkus ( only that track) is pretty good, but as a
whole album there are some really really bad and useless tracks. i have
heard also all peter gabriel era albums and just dont like them.

I think all 3 of them are great. You need to give them some patience. I didn't like Genesis at all the first time I heard them.
