yes lack of emotion...seeriously, listen to a Dream Theater followed by a TMV album, followed by a Rush album, followed by a Dredg album, followed by almost any other prog band (even freaking Tool, whom I don't much like, has more emotion than DT)...I own EVERY DT album...they just grow so old...i used to be infatuated also...but there is much better stuff out there, not that I don't respect your opinion as it also used to be mine, but DT is lacking for me.

peart of course....portnoy manages to be the most unemotional little prick i've ever witnessed on stage, along with every other member of DT minus Myung and sometimes Ruddess (mostly outside of DT for him)...DT is nothing but a technical powerhouse with little to no emotion per song ( ), this comes off as pleasing for about 6 months, then their charm wears off and all you hear is a bunch of notes that make you want to scream...while I appreciate their technical prowess I believe they could be a much better band than they are...Rush on the otherhand had emotion of sorts while not sacrificing technical prowess which comes off as ultimately satisfying. While this has nothing to do with drumming outwardly, indirectly it definately does. Peart was the greater of the two, you have my opinion.
