Another Finnish suggestion: Pelle Miljoona - Moottoritie on kuuma

This was a HUGE hit here when it came out and still one of the most known and popular rock songs. I don't know if they stole the bassline from Genesis - Dancing with the Moonlit Knight or came up with it otherwise.

As a non-aligned socialist country, former Yugoslavia had a flourishing rock scene.

Ekatarina Velika (EKV, Catherine the Great) from Belgrade was one of their major exponents in the 1980s.

Ekatarina Velika: Ti si sav moj bol (Album: S'vetrom uz lice, 1986)

I will add one more: Kliché - Bravo Charlie (1982)

Notice that apart from the word 'radio', the lyrics consist entirely of NATO's phonetic alphabet.

The German new wave suggestions jogged my happy memories of Alphaville- Fallen Angel from their 1984 debut.

I think the idea is to feature some stuff that is not very well known... well, hardly anyone (even in Germany) knows this one. I always loved this album (which came rather accidentally to me). This is a fun track that is almost instrumental, a rare thing for new wave, but I think they totally nail it.

Great variety. I have another suggestion. This one is a San Francisco band that has been labeled as both post-punk and new wave.  Probably the song they are best known for though they did well with the single "Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)" from their third album. Unfortunately, they were on a promotional tour for that album when their label dropped them because executive found out the singer wasn't a skinny blonde. The broke up shortly thereafter. Heard this a lot on local radio and on MTV at the time.

Listening through the songs now, there's a lot of great stuff. Which should come as no surprise since I have always enjoyed new wave.

Thanks a lot. Here's another track, but I will make do with that I think. I don't know if this is strictly new wave (could also be post punk?), but I've always fancied Sort Sol.

This is their 1983 song Abyss.

Thanks guys! Songs added to the playlist. I will update the "poll" later.

Anders, this isn't the usual poll so it will be open for suggestions until we get to 25. You can suggest more than once if you like.

BTW, good track. I enjoyed it!

If the voting hasn't opened, I think I will give it a go and join in.

I have shared Tv-2 before, but their early work is very new wave. I may add a translation later.

New Wave + France = Indochine. Again, a debut from a debut album, in 1982. They were support act for Depeche Mode that year in France:

Rupert Hine is better known as a writer and producer. He cowrote and produced tracks on Tina Turner's Private Dancer. Among prog artists, he produced albums by Camel, Saga, and Rush. In 1981, he had an album called Immunity. From that album,

From The Netherlands, this time... They came from my village, but we moved before they got "known". Quite a particular band: no electric guitar or bass, but instead a Wurlitzer piano and clavinet (and on some tracks also a bassoon). This one was a minor hit in 1981 in the Netherlands. Oh, nostalgia, nostalgia...

The Mo - Fred Astaire (just a summer love affair):

New Wave can be such a broad church, and often includes a lot of post-punk. If you don't consider this to be New Wave enough, as I am hardly a New Wave expert, then feel most free to exclude from the list and call me an ignoramus to boot.
The first step on the path to wisdom is the recognition of one's own ignoramusishness-iosity.

Family Fodder - Symbols (off the 1980 album Monkey Banana Kitchen).

I hope more from the New Wave poll series join in, including its leader of course.
