The Deppth of the Pitt - An Actors Poll

No, Brad Pitt is a very good actor, but his acting is very much within the mainstream Hollywood conventions. Also in 12 Monkeys he could be replaced with a couple of other good Hollywood actors and it wouldn't change the quality of the film. It is just that he is more bankable than the others (which hasn't necessarily have to do with talent/acting skills). But again, he's very good in what he does, between comedy (e.g. Read After Burning), the stupid American (Inglorious b*****ds), action (the Ocean Eleven films, a.o.), or more serious roles (e.g. Benjamin Button)... A great Hollywood actor.

Johnny Depp, however, has shown much more versatility in his acting and roles they gave to him, be it by Jim Jarmush or by Tim Burton or by others still. He moves much less within those Hollywood conventions, imho. So, I'll go with Depp.

Though Depp has fallen from grace and become somewhat bizarre, you can't tell me he wasn't one of the great actors of his time.   Pitt's okay but I haven't seen him do anything outside his comfort zone.
