Undoubtedly, the two biggest musical events of 1969 were the huge Woodstock festival in August and the Altamont Speedway concert in December of that year, although Altamont is remembered now for all the wrong reasons, as The Rolling Stones asked the Hells Angels to provide "security" at the event, with disastrous consequences.
