IMHO, "The Lamia" has every single band member firing on all cylinders for seven solid minutes. A flawless song.

Not a duffer moment in the Gabriel-era cataloge - I had Tresspass on recently for the first time in yonks and, man, that LP gets better with age. All high points, no particular favorite but if I had to choose: The Battle of Epping Forest.

"Firth of Fifth." "Cinema show" would be right behind that one though.

So many great ones to pick from, so I´ll chose one not many others will probably even consider: Counting Out Time. It´s not a great epic, or an especially complex progressive rock track, but I absolutely adore the lyrics and the feel good atmosphere of the song.

I'm tempted to go with that too. Incredible song. But then Firth of Fifth, In the Cage and Chamber of 32 Doors are all up there. Edited by Blacksword - December 11 2020 at 10:38 |

I think one of the all around best songs was Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.
But Moonlit Knight is a favorite of mine. |
