I also have a special fondness for Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation, and Tarja Turunen, the former operatic soprano with Nightwish.

I really like the Morcheeba a lot, a well as other Morcheeba songs. I haven't checked out much by those you listed. Of course I know that Mostly Autumn is very popular in PA.

Very nice collection of songs. Didn't know Electrelane, Mono or Pram - nice too, but neither will get my vote. Initially I thought my vote would easily be going to PJ Harvey, but imo she doesn't really excel on The River.
So, to make it easy, I go for Air, because I can float away on this song and her voice.

In a similar vain to this collection, I'd suggest Aimee Mann, How Am I Different (1999):

I was questioning whether or not to do "The River", I was going to do "The Wind" -- both being the first songs that I heard from PJ Harvey.

I loved that track you mentioned. It's the first time that I've heard it and it is right on the money! It's a great mention for this thread. Thanks.

Isobel is totally iconic, and I'm a big fan of Broadcast's The Noise Made By People album. I didn't know this one but it's great and should be voted. I also know and like some Pram, not this one, but it's up with their better ones I know. The PJ Harvey one is not bad either. As there are multiple votes allowed I'll throw some in before later coming back to listen to more of those I don't  yet know. Great selection!

You sound like you swallowed Micky with that first sentence -- lol.   I don't do contests, and a significant part of why I do these is in the hope of exposing people to music that they might not have heard, and to get some recommendations along the way. Thanks. I really love "Isobel". That and "Joga" are my Bjork faves, and are what got me into Bjork. I'm glad that you liked the Broadcast track, it is a particular favourite of mine. I like The Noise Made By People very much, as well as Tender Buttons. "The Book Lovers" is the titular song from Broadcast's The Book Lovers EP from 1996.
