I can’t pick a top 10. I could have 10 top 10s. Ive found 20 fave songs from the remix sets alone. Either 10 new tracks which were previously unreleased or 10 known tracks which I’ve started to get into due to the much improved production. Now I keep playing those tunes thanks to the remixes. Otherwise I never would have bothered with them.
Good examples are Inside, Old greaser, Warm Sporran, Working John Edited by dr prog - May 04 2021 at 02:19 |

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

My top Jethro Tull song are 22 ones, so I guess I'll have to start by cutting the (great) classical or traditional covers they made. And then, in chronological order:
1. Living in the Past (Montreux version). 2. Nothing is easy (Living with the Past version). 3. Aqualung (Montreux version). 4. My God (Montreux version). 5. Locomotive Breath (Montreux version). 6. Thick as a Brick (Bursting Out version). 7. Minstrel in the Gallery (Bursting Out version). 8. Hunting girl (Montreux version). 9. Velvet green (original version). 10. The Whistler (original version). So, actually, for me the very best versions they did comes mostly from Live, Bursting Out and Live at Montreux. |

Almost anything from 'Aqualung' or 'Living in the Past', plus of course TAAB (all of it).

also not the best album for prog fans imo. Their run of albums from TAAB to Stormwatch is one of the best ever. All great stuff to get your teeth into. Aqualung is a bit like DSOTM for me , an excellent song based album that leave me wanting more of something else.

I don't disagree but it makes it a bit dull for someone wanting to acquaint themselves with the music of Jethro Tull.
