That's great ProgPave . Thank you . Use Spotify a great deal , mainly for Prog Classics, 1970's 'hairy' rock, and Folk, but always on the look out for new bands. Will try this playlist later.
Just checking played Den Der Hale 'Charlatan's Gospel' and Diamir 'Atrophy' really promising, thank you for sharing. Added both tracks to my own Spotify playlist. Edited by Droxford - October 25 2020 at 14:47 |

Hi,
Thank you all for your messages and sorry for my late reply. @artelug Thank you for your support. I'll definitely check your album, but I couldn't find the link so could you send it again? @moshkito Thank you for your thoughts. I don't necessarily encourage bands to try to get signed. I just try to do my part to help bands to get more audience. Thank you anyway if you liked my playlist. @Clivey Thank you for your recommendations. I especially liked the first song. It would fit to my playlist so tell me if you start to do spotify at some point. Second one wasn't bad either. I would describe it as "suitably strange". @Drusstheledg3 Thank you for your recommendation! Great song, I added it to my playlist. |

Hi, It's a great list, and I will definitely look into many of those, however, this is not the only thing I listen to and separating "progressive" from any other music, shows (TO ME) how short sighted the list really is, nowadays, when a "record contract" is a thing of the past, and even more so now that a band can not hit the road to show the meager public showings, how good they are, so the word of mouth helps double the attention. These days, any band waiting for a signature, is probably never going to get anywhere ... they need to make music for themselves and their ideas FIRST and then see if the rest follows or not. Many years ago, some bands had to go through the Red Lion circuit and other bar circuits and eventually show that they can play, and might get signed for 3 chocolate bars and a beer ... and these days, if you offer a band that, you know damn well that you, or I, are going to tell that jerk to stick it where his sun don't shine! There has always been an issue with bands not being "signed" or just too new to get any attention ... but I can go back to Space Pirate Radio 46+ years, and show you that not all bands got signed, even though an album was made ... cheapness at its best (I produced Guy's album and 1000 copies cost $1.73 each at the time with the cardboard cover, graphics and cellophane wrap -- 1977 or 1978 ... can't even remember it!) ... and today, you can copy a CD yourself, although you really should invest in a more complete and heavy duty CD-Rom Writer, so you can sell those things ... all you need now is resolve the cover, or paper inserts for it and a label to make it prettier, and that cost, is very low, other than the top level CD-Rom writer. It's just strange to see a thread dictating yesterday's thing to today ... there will never be a band being offered $100K for their services and such ... I don't think that band folks are not smart enough to go ... wait a minute ... Budweiser will give us $5K for every show that we have their two huge flags on stage ... and you will take that in a second ... screw the record company ... all you need is a person that has an instinct for how to find folks to invest in the group ... The other solution is to do what Porcupine Tree did ... selling cassettes up the yen yang for a band that did not exist ... and next thing you know you got 15 guys in hats and suits and brief cases at your door, wanting you to put your diddle here. SW DID NOT SIGN with anyone ... he only allowed the DELIVERY of the material and the band's output to get distributed ... he owns all the rest right from the start. Dream Theater, just about did the same thing ... but today, you are specifying and telling me that these bands want a free ride? AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN SPECIALLY IN THE COVID ERA! But the listing is great to find new listens that we didn't know about before!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Hi, I have created a spotify playlist for unsigned progressive rock bands. If you are searching for new music, you should check it out: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0KUGJ27lAQ1PhvHEIs83ys?si=1uz6AmAGRR2ABEG0sPIqYg
There is already a nice set of progressive rock music from all around the world and I am searching all the time more great music to add there. So if you know some good unsigned progressive rock bands, I would be happy to get recommendations. It is ok to recommend your own band too. So far the playlist has just a little below 100 followers but that's already a decent boost for a completely unknown band, don't you think? Now you can also send me submissions through the soundplate.com website. It's easy and fast. Of course I also follow the forum and look for music there. Currently there are over 10 hours of music from over 60 different bands and over 20 countries. If you think there's great music on the playlist, don't forget to like it. Press the heart icon and you can follow what's new in the playlist. You would also make me happy and at the same time you would support these great bands/ artists from the underground. Thank you in advance! Edited by ProgePave - April 08 2022 at 15:02 |
