Canterbury Scene Music

But.....imho they are not better than the classic Canterbury lps by Hatfield and Nat Health.....they are as good as in some ways but imho they don't have that same vibe that the female singers (Parson, Gaskins ,et al and Sinclair) as well as the writing Stewart et al brought to Hatfield and others.

But I 'm glad Zopp is emulating the older sounds.

I guess that comment might be a bit over the zopp somewhere, but I agree that both albums are excellent. Wonderful listens, regardless of it being Canterbury tea or bones!

I think that is one of the most satisfying listens in some time. Very very nice!

At this moment in time, I'd say Zopp's Dominion album is by far the best of the 300+ Canterbury Scene albums I've listened to in total over the last four years, but that all may change in a year's time once the novelty has worn off, in the same way as The Quest no longer comes Close to the Edge of being my favourite YES album two years on. 

ROBERT WYATT     Robert Wyatt is to Canterbury Scene music what Steve Davis is to snooker: interesting but not particularly exciting.... Robert Wyatt was a founder member of Soft Machine and Matching Mole whose career as a band drummer hit Rock Bottom after a fall from a window in 1973 left him wheelchair-bound for life. That marked the start of Robert Wyatt's somewhat eccentric 40-year solo career though - with offbeat music that often strayed into cloud Cuckooland - up until announcing his retirement from the music business in 2014 when he stated, "I didn't want my music to go off."  

THE WILDE FLOWERS     The very first Canterbury Scene band, featuring a whole Caravan full of future legends of the genre, including Richard Sinclair, Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, Hugh Hopper, Mike Ratledge, Pye Hastings, Hugh Hopper and Richard Coughlan.
