I think my current ranking would be as such:

1. A Night at the Opera
2. Queen II
3. Jazz
4. Innuendo
5. A Day at the Races
6. Sheer Heart Attack
7. Queen
8. News of the World
9. The Game
10. A Kind of Magic
11. The Miracle
12. Made in Heaven
13. Hot Space
14. The Works
15. Flash Gordon

The Works and Flash Gordon are the only two sub-3/5 albums for me though Smile

For me they did their best work pre-Night at the Opera, when they still seemed to be aspiring to be a serious rock band, i.e before they went for a more commercial sound. [Others may disagree.]

My favourite album being 'Sheer Hear Attack', closely followed by 'Queen II', and 'Queen'. With an honourable mention for the dark and moody 'Innuendo' (IMO the finest of their later works).

Interestingly, if you ask in a context very different from this one, the preferences will be very different. This vote mostly focuses on their early work, but I was at a party some time ago where the toastmaster insisted on playing Queen songs half of the time. It was all about "Radio Gaga", "A Kind of Magic", "I Want To Break Free", "Another One Bites the Dust", "I Want It All", "Who Wants to Live Forever" and so on. All 80's stuff, and I don't think even "Bohemian Rhapsody" was ever played.

Even something as cringey as Don't Try Suicide? LOL

Yes, it's typical over-the-top Freddie, but nowhere near as intolerable as "Get Down Make Love" and "Body Language".

Every album from Opera to Jazz is IMO very consistent quality-wise, but my vote goes to Opera, because Bohemian Rhapsody and The Prophets' Song are on it.

For what it's worth, Sheer Heart Attack isn't even in my top 5 by Queen. Other than the albums I mentioned above, I would also pick Jazz, Innuendo, and possibly even A Day at the Races above that one Smile

Very close call between A Night at the Opera and Queen II, but I ultimately have to go with the former. To me, Queen II is stronger on an individual song-by-song basis, whereas A Night at the Opera is a more cohesive, singular work. And in all honesty, I prefer that sense of cohesion and connection. Again though, both albums are amazing.

Also, ANatO has my favorite Queen song, The Prophet's Song Smile

They say that great minds think alike, but in reality, that's very rarely the case. Einstein was brilliant because he saw thinks differently to everyone else, RELATIVELY speaking, AND, in the immortal words of Barclay James Harvest, Everyone is Everybody Else. Smile

music is subjective and water is wet.

^ I say we're agreeing more and more but you disagree with that assessment. That's okay though. I should have expected you to disagree again, based on past experience. Smile
