I picked Zappa, but I might have picked Emerson, Lake & Powell if you'd listed it.

This studio album list is more complete: CLICK, but I'd say that there are more notable albums out there from that year than on that list.

Anyway, I voted for Sbub-Niggurath, and that would be followed by the Univers Zero. Other faves include News from Babel's Letters Home, Offering's Offering Part I / Part II, and Miriodor's Recontres.

the only one I know is Underwater Sunlight

I find it to be one of the lesser TD albums so I won't vote

not really interested in the other albums on this list either

Shub Niggurath from this list but my favorite from 86' would be Anamorphose sole album, a smokin' eclectic fusion album!

I like the eighties as much as any other era. But I don't know any of these albums.

Not a bad year considering the 80s were a bit of a prog wasteland.  The Shubs - fantastic album.  Sylvian's album was good, Zappa's surprisingly good (mainly Synclavier) although UZ going 'off the boil' (geddit?)

I'm not a huge fan of that year in music, so no vote this time.
