Carey's sound is distinct yet reserved and mostly predictable, while
Portnoy's sound is brash and technical, but not very distinct. I
vote for Vinnie Colaiuta.

I think they're both great, and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. However, I vote for Mr. Portnoy, as I prefer Dream Theater to Tool ANY DAY!

I love Portnoy,he is a phenomonal drummer and there is so much variety in his whole body of work. But I am going with Carey,I am just mesmerized by his drum work.

Oh C'mon. Mike Portnoy is better simply because he has more variation than Danny. Danny is a great drummer, but I wish he'd do more than just boring polyrhythmns.
