Climax Blues Band - "Amerita/Sense of Direction"
Climax Blues Band had a lot of proggy touches in their music during their early years, including the simple fact that they were so eclectic, especially for a band that was essentially a blues/boogie rock band (of course they morphed into a more yacht rock/AOR-type band later--their trajectory actually has some simliarities with Chicago, who were also quite proggy at times during their earlier years). If everything they'd done had been in the vein of "Amerita/Sense of Direction", though, I would have simply considered them a prog band: |

The whole album is a space rock masterpiece, I can't understand why they aren't here.

KAJAGOOGOO - Introduction
Believe it or not, this near-6 minute instrumental piece (B-side of Hang On Now) sounds virtually Prog-Electronic, similar to some of those German 'Innovative Communication' label things from the early-80's. There more to these guys than Limahl and Too Shy........ |

From the first time I heard it I thought And I Moved bore more than a passing resemblance to Bound for Infinity by Renaissance.

I’m inclined to agree, especially “Quartet”, “Lament”
and “U-VOX”, but I think they’ve already been rejected by the mods.
Couldn’t agree more, but it’s the same as with Ultravox. I think XTC is the #1 most requested band to bring to PA, at least as prog related, that the mods continually reject as if the very idea is blasphemy. |

A few months ago an archival release of basically a jazz band called The Platina was released, the material was apparently recorded in 1976. The album include 5 songs that could be classified as jazz but the other 3 has a strong connection with the jazz rock/prog genre.
Check out this fantastic piece |

I know of many, but here are two artists not yet mentioned...
First is Blues Traveler, Onslaught. This one sounds proggy to me. At first I didn't like it, but it has grown on me a lot.... Then there's Andrew Bird who's album "...The Mysterious Production of Eggs" has some proggish songs, like "Banking On A Myth": |
