I just realized no Argentineans in my team (under normal conditions I would never ever blink before putting Messi in any team of mine) and only two Brazilean, both DEFENDERS. That clearly shows how much Brazilean football has changed (for the worse in my view).

^ Did you put Lahm on the left? That's a good idea; even though he played on the right at this World Cup, he was on the left in 2006 and he was very good at it.
Your team is more balanced, I put two strikers, while you put one + Forlan (who is a typical 9+1/2); also Muller helps the defensive midfielder (which in my team does not get much help as all the other midfielders I put are offensive).

Good team. Mine:
Stekelenberg (Holland) GK
Pique, Juan (CD)
Maicon, Lahm (SD)
Schweinsteiger, Jong
Sneijder Muller
Villa Forlan
In the bench: Casillas, Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Podolski, Klose, Ozil, K-P Boateng, Robben

Yeah that foul by Pique was a surprise, but other than that, he's my favourite central defender right now and he did a great job at this world cup (except for that foul).
It's true that I had to think a lot for the left wing defender, but I had to pick one, and I didn't notice one better than Heinze. Bastos was good but with Holland he lost it.

hey... you mean Piqué from Spain Alex...? do you see how well he cover in the area, hanging the player until he gets the penalty?
can't decide, but Heinze didn't do nothing, from your team, the strikers I agree, Forlán is the master, really... but I'm not sure if I can take a dream team right now... let me think about it...

That's true, and no other left wing defender caught my eye, either. BTW, he was also very important for Marseille winning the Championship in France this year for the first time in almost two decades.

I don't know if I would put him on my ideal 11, but Heinze did played a good World Cup, and shut a lot of mouths here in Argentina.

couldn't agree any more.. not allowing a goal in more than 300 minutes could be impressive.. but not scoring one in..what.. over 300 minutes just makes for ugly football. Football.. as well as Spain won that match.

Again I agree, that's what I'd predict too, even the scores. Spain are weaker than in 2008 and Germany have improved a lot. I love Spain and will keep my fingers crossed for them, but Germany are looking better this time.

Very good point, Messi is so great at Barcelona exactly because there are players who play "for" him, like especially Xavi who often puts Messi in decisive positions with his passes, or the central striker (Eto'o and now Ibrahimovic) who passes for infiltrations of Messi who comes from the second line. The way he was used at this Cup didn't look at all promising... and so he failed to provide.

I don't agree with that, World Cup and local championship are completely different contexts, that's why so often players who do well in one suck at the other. I'm sure Mourinho knows exactly why's he's asking for Di Maria... Just think of the players he used at Inter - one year ago nobody would have given them a chance with such an apparently eclectic and weak squad, yet they were perfect for his plan.

Congratulations to Germany and Spain. Sadly, this is the first world cup I saw with Argentina being out and not asking myself after the game "what would have happened if..."X"?". Germany was a far better TEAM (not individualities, as we are) during the entire match. They deserved it.
Today Argentina had no midfield. Mascherano alone can't do everything. Di Maria sucked once again (I don't know what the hell Real Madrid is thinking...again. They really should consider that he shined on Benfica, which is, with all due respect, not the same by any means to Real Madrid), and Maxi Rodriguez hour has passed since long ago (he was lucky enough to get to the World Cup for that famous goal against Mexico and ended up on the initial squad on the defining game).
The fact that Veron didn't play today is UNFORGIVABLE. Maradona had the chance to fix things up during half time but decided to trust once again in Di Maria and Rodriguez. Too bad for us. Messi's performance would have been better with Veron on the field. Messi can't be asking for the ball in the midfield. That is not his job. He is an awesome player and probably the best of the world but he's NOT MARADONA. Things would have been different if he had someone like Veron serving the ball to him. Anyway, we are out. Once again, too much talent wasted. Some things really need to change.

Jeezzzz.... this cup is full with emotion... the last matches were impressive and I say Cardozo has it on his hands (feet) and it's sad, because they were warriors... well, I hope you all saw the weakness of Spain and how erratic they were most of the time... I say I go for a final between Uruguay and Germany, it could be amazing... epic I most say...
