Paste Magazine: Best of What's Next First Listen
It has a track from Bosnian Rainbows, so I figured it at least has some potentially interesting music on it. So far the first track is good, would have been good for listening to on summer road trips with friends I think.

^I find that to be the case with most drone I end up checking out, maybe I'm just checking out the wrong stuff.
Now: This Heat - Deceit (1981)
Post/punk with a heavy following in avant-prog circles and marked as avant-prog here. Really good stuff and you can hear where Volcano the Bear got some of their ideas in this album, especially as far as some of their vocals are concerned. I have a couple other of their albums but this one has made the biggest impact thus far.

Checking this one out ... it's good music for the background while working (which I am) but, like most drone music, I think i would be bored if I were paying more attention. |
Yes, I just found it on Bandcamp and I was also a bit disappointed by how monotonous it was.

They get rockier later on (and then sell out big time on Coles ads). Pictures of Matchstick Men is a good track. Haven't heard any others from that album though.
