Oh, like my jokes don't inflame anyone. Perkel's ChurchIf it's Real - we believe in it!
This space left blank. By the way, if you can't handle pointless political debates, perhaps you like to take a turn at pointless musical debates, plenty of topics to choose from here... Edited by Slartibartfast - February 08 2009 at 01:56 |

"Why all you guys got so inflamed by it? " Just look at the reaction. How can a joke trigger such a storm of response? And to see the insults go thru the thread again. If you don't want me to refer to them as subpar I can call them anything you want but it will hardly change the nature of things. Geez, voicing an opinion here is getting more challenging by the hour!

So who are you claiming was 'inflamed' by this 'silly story', and who are you claiming is only capable of 'subpar derogatory comments'. |

I hope by the "the crap that the Republicans were doing" you mean purely their political misdeeds. Don't make me start talking about the economy again or I will go as far as LBJ this time.

I didn't say O'Reilly was openly liberal, I said he was an independant. Liberals have the potential to be just as bad as Rebublicans, but from a completely different direction, don't you agree?
Having said that, I already covered the tragedy of Alan Colmes in my previous post in this thread, I believe. I completely agree with everybody about Fox News, never said I didn't, but we must be mindful of who we right off as merely more of the same. When it comes to O'Reilly, I think it has become popular to bash him, and that if anyone chooses to agree with him on anything he says, then they must not be intelligent, because only stupid people listen to O'Reilly.
Nothing in life is completely black or white. So not everyone with a more conservative outlook is a right-wing nutcase, and not everyone who is liberal is smart. There needs to be a better balance than there is currently where political parties are concerned. Because disregarding someone else's opinion just because they aren't you own doesn't make much sense.
If you honestly feel that O'Reilly is partisan, then great. Just make sure that you are basing that opinion on actual observations you have made of the guy, and not just because someone you look up to says thet he is. Edited by p0mt3 - February 07 2009 at 19:19 |

Exactly. Alan Colmes was the single openly liberal person on the network and where is he now. |

Thank you!
Yes, I do feel that we are in a very touch situation right now. Yet . . . many people from other countries still choose to live here. So that tells me that, despite all the wise-cracks and mockery that the USA has gotten in recent years, the world generally still feels that America is a great country for opprotunity and so forth. There is still hope here, but we need to act now and quit worrying about the trivial, arbutrary bullsh*t that seems to bog us down so much these days. let's start focusing on what we can do to mantain this country's great reputation, and let's get back to doing what made the country worth fighting for in the first place. Because if we lose that, then the whole idea of America kind of goes down the tubes.

Checking more info about this issue I read that the old friggies will be part of the exchange and all the CFC will be vacuum sucked before disposing the appliances for recycling. The extracted CFC will be then neutralized in a specific plant. Well, that's the plan...

Well, that's your opinion. Just because someone doesn't always agree with your point of view doesn't mean he isn't coming to his own conclusions freely and without bias. What channel do you trust for unbiased coverage, then? CNN?
I am in no way saying that Fox News is all it claims to be. It's clearly a right-wing station that hides under the guise of being independant simply by hiring a couple of Liberals here and there, then ultimately letting them go (Alan Colmes, anyone?). However, I do feel that Bill O'Reilly comes to his own decisions about things based on his own observations. Sure, he's a lot more conservative than I am, but he isn't always wrong, either.
My opinion: All media coverage is biased in someway. No way is any news corporation going to not sway one diorection or the other, because the money and controversy isn't made when you shoot straight. They have to appeal to someone. It just happens to be that right now, most media that I have seen is Left-Wing biased.

First off, orally is not an independent, he is totally partisan. There are no free thinkers on Fox, only the dumb leading the dumber and the further dumbing down of the already dumb people in America. Edited by Slartibartfast - February 07 2009 at 18:37 |

And some more to you, sir! As you may know, I moved to the US about three months ago to marry a well-known forum member, and as such I'm quite interested by what is happening around me. When a country is in the straits the US currently are, tearing each other apart is the worst thing that can happen. On other forums I've seen posts by people who would rather see the country founder for good rather than give their new President a chance. I've already seen it happen in Italy, and I'd really like not see it happen here, since I have chosen to spend the second half of my life. |

What does that have to do with anything? O'Reilly is an independant. Probably the only free thinker on Fox News Channel.
I voted for Obama, btw, just so you know.

^ of course the other another problem with 10 million rusting refrigerators is they will be full of CFCs in the refrigerant and in the insulation which has to be removed before any useful materials can be recovered.

I try to tell my Conservative friends this all the time. The era of bitching about our problems has to stop. If we doen't embrace our new leader, we really won't have a chance in hell of dodging another depression, but if we all decide to put our pregidouses aside and actually work WITH him . . . well, we will certainly have a better shot than if we did nothing.
