^ A good point, Eugene. The biography standards actually say: ALL band names and last names of band members MUST be all caps. It only mentions band members there, and doesn't say that all surnames have to be in caps, so yes, the result probably is a bit "over-consistent". My fault for taking "the rules" too far! It probably would be a good idea for you to go ahead and restore the non-musicians' surnames back to how they were to begin with. Sorry! Embarrassed

To be perfectly honest, I don't like the use of capitals in these biographies anywhere other than at the beginning of a sentence or proper noun (the name for a specific place, person, or thing). Hardly anyone bothers capitalizing biography band names and surnames in their entirety these days anyway, so maybe it's time to just forget that this particular "rule" even exists lol!

- E&O Team: Thanks, Tolkien and Rowland now.

^ Thanks, David, done.

Though I think the result is a bit "over-consistent", personally I prefer to keep non-musicians' names in traditional way, i.e. Tolkien and Rowland.Smile

^ Well spotted, Eugene, for all three of these.

1. ... if they would like work ...
- "would like work" or ""would like to work"?

Both of these are in theory grammatically correct in English, since the word 'work' can be either a noun or a verb, though like to work definitely reads better here, and so it would be preferable to use the word as a verb in this instance.

2. ... on a project tentatively called THE BLUE DOOR ...
- it's correct if "The Blue Door" was the initial project name, if it was the album title, it should be:
... on an album tentatively called "The Blue Door" ...

As you say in the line below this, "The Blue Door" was the title of the 1st GARDENING CLUB PROJECT album - even though Martin Springett refers to it in his biography as a project rather than an album - and it should thus be in lower case and enclosed by quotation marks. At the time that Kevin Laliberte and Drew Birston began working with Martin, "The Blue Door" was only tentatively being thought of as the name for the album he was working on at the time, which is maybe why he refers to it in his biography as a project rather than an album at that early stage of the trio's collaboration.

3. The very first song they worked on, "Forever Leaving Home"...
- If it was the very first song, it's a bit strange that it didn't appear on 2021 CLUB album, but was included in the next release, "Bridge of Spirits" (2022). Confused

I guess they must have decided not to release the first song they worked on together on that 2021 album, and instead keep it back for a future release. Maybe the trio hadn't quite refined it to their complete satisfaction at the time they were ready to release "The Blue Door", and so they might have left it off that particular album to do some more work on it.

The guy who wrote this biography (Martin Springett) is the actual founder of THE GARDENING CLUB, so we have to assume that the information it contains is all factually correct, and should thus be left as it is.

So, to finish this job off now as best we can, "The Blue Door" in paragraph 3, line 4 needs to be in lower case and enclosed by quotation marks, and I'd add the word 'to' into the sentence in paragraph 3, lines 3 and 4, to make it read thus: As Martin had longed to work with these two amazing players, he took this opportunity to ask them if they would like to work on a project tentatively called "The Blue Door" with him, just as you suggest above.

And that should now be all good. Smile

Edit: There's one more instance of a surname which isn't in capitals that we've both missed up until now -  Kev ROWLAND in the last-but-one line of the bio. Embarrassed

This artist's biography needs a little attention to deal with several of the usual question marks where there should be apostrophes and quotation marks. Maybe some other inconsistencies could be fixed too, if you feel the need to deal with these while you've got the text open in the admin panel.

..............................................................................................................

One thing's for sure, I doubt that either of you will have attended to this issue before I manage to post my note, but if you have, then I guess it won't hurt. Big smile

Thanks, David, done.

But there are questions (these lines in the 3rd paragraph, as they look now):

"As Martin had longed to work with these two amazing players, he took this opportunity to ask them if they would like work on a project tentatively called THE BLUE DOOR with him. The very first song they worked on, "Forever Leaving Home", was again a revelation to Martin ...

1. ... if they would like work ...
- "would like work" or ""would like to work"?

2. ... on a project tentatively called THE BLUE DOOR ...
- it's correct if "The Blue Door" was the initial project name, if it was the album title, it should be:
... on an album tentatively called "The Blue Door" ...

It seems the latter is closer to truth, because the 1st CLUB album was entitled "The Blue Door" (2021), but I don't know for sure. Confused

3. The very first song they worked on, "Forever Leaving Home"...
- If it was the very first song, it's a bit strange that it didn't appear on 2021 CLUB album, but was included in the next release, "Bridge of Spirits" (2022). Confused

This artist's biography needs a little attention to deal with several of the usual question marks where there should be apostrophes and quotation marks. Maybe some other inconsistencies could be fixed too, if you feel the need to deal with these while you've got the text open in the admin panel.

Paragraph 1, line 9, where it begins: Martin said... The rest of that paragraph needs enclosing with quotation marks. The opening one is currently a question mark, and the closing one is missing completely.

The other question marks are at:
Paragraph 2, lines 1, 5 (x2) and 8
Paragraph 3, lines 1 and 5
The last line of the biography also has one.

In paragraph 2, line 4 the rather late follow up to original album needs 'the' inserting before original album.

Then, to maintain consistency with the capitalisation of band names and peoples' surnames as per the official PA biography standards policy (as edited by former admin Andy Webb in April 2015) throughout the bio (not many biography writers bother adhering to it these days, but since this particular biography does attempt to follow the policy we may as well try to get it right), the mention of The Gardening Club at paragraph 3, line 10 needs capitalizing, as do the surnames of Norm Macpherson and Kevin Laliberte in lines 7 and 8 of paragraph 3, and I guess also the two inclusions near the beginning of the bio of the surnames of the author JRR Tolkien and his son Christopher.

Conversely, to also keep to PA's official policy of capitalising surnames and band names, but not releases, the references to "The Gardening Club" at paragraph 1, line 7 and paragraph 2, line 1 should really be in lower case and enclosed in quotation marks, since these refer to the name of the self-titled debut album rather than the name of the artist. Similarly "The Riddle" in paragraph 2, line 4 is the name of an album and shouldn't really be capitalized, but should be enclosed with quotation marks. Then in paragraph 3 "The Blue Door", "Forever Leaving Home" and "Mr. October and the Moon of Madness" are also names of releases which should ideally be in lower case.

I think that's everything lol. It's a fair bit to take in, and I guess it's up to you guys whether with you bother fixing any of it other than the spurious question marks.

One thing's for sure, I doubt that either of you will have attended to this issue before I manage to post my note, but if you have, then I guess it won't hurt. Big smile

^ Yes, it should. The album is released tomorrow, and I expect the track times on Bandcamp will become available at some point during the day. Might as well leave all the editing until then, rather than do some now and the rest tomorrow.

^ From experience, updating an album cover is a matter of seconds, but updating an artist image takes a few hours. And even then, sometimes you need to do a full refresh in your browser (Ctr+F5) to see the changes.

It apparently took a while to register, but hours later the updated picture now appears for me.
