I will always fondly remember seeing them on their mini tour of the south-west around 1984 (the 'fly high, fall far' mini lp was just coming out) and my mate's band was supporting them.. it was all stripey trousers, rainbow jumpers and bad mullets back then (or maybe that was just me). Shame that their gig at the phoenix in Exeter was cancelled twice, i'd love to see them live again.

Many thanks, John!

So, as promised, this evening an interview with Leo Carnicella, a Venezuelan musician based in Germany whose last record, Super-Sargasso Sea, featured Martin Barre.

This is a fascinating interview which goes to the heart of the man, artist, and musician.

Simply go to my homepage at www.lazland.org and scroll down to the interviews section of the homepage and click on the button to view.

Enjoy.

Only one new album review this week? Time constraints, no doubt. I'm firing off a letter to Mr. Sunak immediately requesting early retirement for you, Steve, as more important matters await you. (And us.) Wink

LOL Oh, if only Mr Sunak would let me go! It is likely that I will be applying to go partially retired later this year, so a bit more headroom will be created then.

There will be an interview published either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how I get on. Verynice interview as well. All will be revealed!

Very nice interview Steve, am looking forward to seeing Emerald Dawn at the Phoenix in Exeter in August!

Dont know if you'd be interested in listening to Billy Bottle's Temple of Shibboleth? Another great contemporary progressive band from the West Country, an all female 'Canterbury' style band who's self-titled first lp is a concept album about.. well, i'll let you decide what its about if you like the sound of it!

Cheers SteveClapThumbs Up

Cheers, John. I am very envious of you going to see them live. Enjoy!

Thanks for the link to Temple of Shibboleth. I will give it a whirl later!

After the marathon interview published with The Emerald Dawn last night, a quieter upload this evening, but it is very much worth your attention.

The Video of the Week on the homepage at www.lazland.org is Guitar Dance In The Morning by Maria Barbieri, the very talented guitarist who will be touring as part of Big Big train replacing Dave Foster. This instrumental track features Nick Beggs, Larry Crowe, and Lenny Castro.

A great band for sure! When I heard the amazing sound of The Emerald Dawn for the first time, that's when it finally dawned on me what I'd been missing out on all these years by ignoring Neo Prog back in the eighties. The same goes for marvellous Marillion too. Embarrassed

By the way, I've been searching for the lost album link for Visions, and just rediscovered it tonight. Thumbs Up

There will probably only be one review uploaded this week, so it better be a good one, I suppose. Thankfully, it is of an essential release, Requiem for a Dream by the superlative new iteration of Karnataka.

My Video of the Week is a somewhat bittersweet affair, Always from David Longdon's solo album, Wild River. He is a talent rather impossible to replace, but he has left an incredible body of work for us to continue enjoying. This is a good example with a track you might not be familiar with.

Thank you, Steve. In fact, they do keep on coming. If only HM Government were as efficient as www.lazland.com then we would all be in the land of milk & honey, because I present to you the third, yes third, review of the week, and it is about as far away as the last two as it is possible to get.

The ever so slightly bonkers world of Beat Love Oracle with their latest album, Turning the Table is reviewed this evening. If you like fusion and love Zappa, you will really enjoy this album. For the rest of you, an opportunity to expand musical horizons.

Upcoming reviews based upon deliveries to the Lazland hoose are Karnataka & Marc Atkinson, together with, hopefully, some surprises.

As ever, enjoy.
