There is a new band from Israel named Aperco (Crossover Prog?) that has just released their first album titled "The Battle" which should be added to ProgArchives. I was really surprised it wasn't already on the site since it came out in February and is destined to be one of the top new prog releases of 2016.
"The Battle" is a concept album depicting a person's life cycle with each track describing different emotional conflicts or stages of life. http://www.apercoband.com/en/home D

Big Hogg (which should have already been added to the Archives) is a great Canterbury style band.

New England band Paradigm Shift. The leader of the group is the keyboardist. The music is not complicated, but bright.

some interesting albums I've listened to recently that are worth mentioning: Valerinne - Monumenta Fjord - On Icy Shores these two are post rock with hints of metal, great atmosphere throughout Arlon - Mimetic Desires (2015) - neo-prog meets progressive metal kinda, a pleasant surprise, very enjoyable. Alyeus - And From the Sky We Fall (2015) - progressive metal again, but definitely not vanilla Sannhet - Revisionist (2015) - instrumental experimental black metal some say, it's a mix of shoegaze, post-metal and black metal, the lack of vocals makes it very enjoyable for me. Long Distance Calling - Trips - a change in sound, less post-rock, one of the best albums I've heard this year. |

exactly. "It“s absolutely true !" (quote from Rick Wakeman - ah,not really he said about but I just couldn“t resist). And there“s one saying in one peculiar language: Airot on meidän

I recommend giving this song a listen. I had this song on my ipod back in like '03, and it didn't really have a title or artist. I find it incredibly moving and atmospheric. Yes, it's a remix of a song from a video game, but it's in a prog rock style.
Parts of it guitar solo later in the song kept popping back into my head after all these years, and so I listened to it again and still like it, despite it being a bit amateurish in retrospect. Now I have found it. What does everyone else think of this song? Is it really special or am I just being nostalgic? |
