By the way, while looking for info on a jazz-rock album, Jonas Hellborg I think, your blog came in very high on the search results.

A busy old night tonight on www.lazland.org a night I have deemed as Electronica Thursday.
We have two reviews. Enigmatic Sound Machines debut Telepathic Waves (and you WILL know one of the participants!) and Data Noise Floor, the project by David Pena who has appeared with Built for the Future. The former is a melodious affair, the latter experimental. Why not head over and listen and tell me what you think?

Contrary to the last news release, there has been time for another new album release. You lucky people!
It is a good 'un, too. Strings From The Edge of Sound by Italian outfit, Karmamoi, this is a fantastic fusion of classical symphonic music and prog rock. As ever, go to the homepage at www.lazland.org to get the link!

It has been a busy night tonight on www.lazland.org - this because the rest of the week will be even busier and I probably won't have time to post any more reviews, although you never know!
The Video of the Week is a single from the forthcoming album by the exceptional Beatrix Players. The Music News Page has been updated with news of the new album by D'Virgilio, Morse & Jennings, the new Dim Gray lineup, a new album by the wonderful Judie Tzuke, The Watch Plays Genesis in Llandrindod Wells, and I am extremely happy and proud to give you all news of the new project involving Thomas Szirmay, aka The Prog Rogue, entitled Enigmatic Sound Machines - damned good electronica it is - there is a video on the page for you to watch. And if that wasn't enough, we also present a brand new album review. Classic progressive rock from Yorkshire outfit Materialeyes - Inside Out is a classy album, and a video and track are embedded in the review to prove it! All can be viewed by going onto my homepage and clicking on the relevant links. Enjoy!

So, to the second album review of the week (and the last), this is the masterpiece The Lightmaker by French outfit, Nine Skies, featuring another dizzying array of guests.
This album is as good as our genre gets. Enjoy the review at https://lazland.org/album-reviews-2023/nine-skies-the-lightmaker

Metro was a shot in the dark art-rock/glam band with a song made famous by David Bowie, Criminal World. It featured Peter Godwin , Sean Lyons and the incredible Duncan Browne. They were an iconic figure in the nascent new wave genre that started with them back in 1977 !

Video of the Week on my website is the latest advance release by the superb Fish on Friday, Overture to Flame + Flame. This is the band's first cover, from music released in 1977 by Metro, who I had not heard of.
The band release 8mm in October, and I am really looking forward to it. There is also a new ale of the week, and to see this (and it is a fun one), you need to click on my News link at the top of the page now. All on the homepage at www.lazland.org your go to culture site! Oh, tomorrow, hopefully the Nine Skies album review will be uploaded!

Okey dokey. Tonight, I have uploaded a review of 2084: Heretic, the new album by Built for the Future, a magnificent interpretation of George Orwell's 1984.
Further, the band have been kind enough to grant me an interview for the site, and the depth of detail they go into is incredible. For those of you new to my website, the interviews are meant to tell a detailed story, to understand the artist, and to introduce you to their craft. Best enjoyed over a few pints, simply put your feet up, drink away, and enjoy by going to my homepage at www.lazland.org and click on the relevant links. As ever, enjoy.

Okay, after some well-earned annual leave, I am regrettably having to go back to work tomorrow morning having failed to win The National Lottery. Well, we are back from our sojourn. To get a little glimpse of what we were up to, take a trip to Ale of the Week on my News Page.
Tonight, there are updates on said ale, Video of the Week is Supernational from the forthcoming Built for the Future album, 2084:Heretic, which is a fine work getting both a review and, indeed, an exclusive interview on the website very shortly. The Music News page has been updated with stuff about Veruno Prog Rock Festival, Nine Skies pre-order, Built for the Future, Walled Garden Festival cancellation, and a live chat with Clive Nolan & Laura Piazzai of Imaginaerium. Finally, a book review, The Sanctuary by Andrew Hunter Murray, an interesting novel. I have tons of music in the queue, and reviews will steadily be uploaded over the course of the next couple of weeks. For all this, simply go to my homepage at www.lazland.org and click away at the appropriate buttons & links. Enjoy.

Righto! Mr & Mrs Laz are orf on their first break away from The Pit in over four years. Mister Son of Laz is being left in charge, so today has been an almighty rush to get everything I wanted uploaded. There is quite a lot, so head off to my homepage at www.lazland.org to enjoy;
1. The latest music news, which features details of forthcoming festivals, District 97, and John Wetton. 2. The Video of the week is a teaser for the upcoming Nine Skies album, The Lightmaker. It will be a good 'un! 3. Review of a new EP by Scottish hard rockers, sin'dogs 4. Review of the wonderful new album by Nova Cascade, The Navigator. All proceeds from the sale of this go to cancer research in memory and as a tribute to Eric Bouillette. That is reason enough for you all to get it. As much of a reason is the fact that it is an excellent album, a must for those of you who love the melodic side of progressive rock That's all folks!

Thanks, Steve. Yes, I am proud of that interview. The detail that was provided was stunning and you get a huge warmth towards both Nick and Rachel reading it. Hopefully, there will be a couple more major interviews before the end of the year.

I'm just trying to catch up on the site, Steve, after some personal distractions. The Nick Barrett interview is excellent and I enjoy any musician explaining that they are subject to the same ills and hardships as us mortal folk, as well as their views on an EP vs a full length album. Bless you both for a fine interview. And Rachel too. I shall return for more viewing and comments shortly.

Tonight, a review of the forthcoming album by British act, Hats Off Gentlemen It's Adequate, who release The Light Of Ancient Mistakes shortly. It is a cracker, and I am sure that after listening to the music which is available and reading my words, you will want to rush off and support this excellent band.
I forgot to post last week that I have revamped the website a wee bit, taking off much of the personal bloggy stuff - the popularity of my site has, gratifyingly, grown well beyond my expectations, and this, of course, is almost wholly down to the music side of it. Therefore, I have introduced a "news" section with "music news" updated weekly - the first update is available now. Lastly, the Video of the Week is my little tribute to Sinead O'Connor - her Blood of Eden duet with Peter Gabriel. Put aside the tabloid gossip, and simply listen to two beautiful people. As ever, all you have to do is go on down to www.lazland.org your cultural fix!!

I forgot to mark the incredible feat of passing the 25,000 views landmark of this thread a couple of days ago. I am genuinely humbled by all of you who read this, my website, and contribute to my musings and inspire my writing. Thank you.
Probably the last update for this calendar week is a review of the superb album Living & Alive by Beatrix Players, who won Prog magazine's 2017 "Best Newcomer" award - on the evidence of this classy work, they are serious contenders for "best band" in 2023. A reminder about the multiple interviews on the site. Leo Carnicella was added last week, Pendragon this week. Both widely read - if you haven't seen either, what are you waiting for? By God, get a drinkie and read! Now!!

Thanks, Chris. Yes, fascinating to read Nick on streaming. The present Hollywood writer and actor strike is based on the same premise, that the streaming giants take all the profit whilst leaving bugger all for the creator. In culture as in so many other matters, corporate capitalism as a business model is broken and something new is required.
