5 stars 2009: The Dante Song Trilogy - http://www.tangerinedreammusic.com/en/music/detail.asp?id=186&tit=The+Dante+Song+Collection

Tangerine Dream's 128th album. A superb collection of 14 songs (Yes, real songs with lyrics!) from three of Tangerine Dream's best albums:- Inferno; Paradiso; & Purgatorio. Thumbs Up

3 stars 2009: The Independent Years - http://www.tangerinedreammusic.com/en/music/detail.asp?id=193&tit=The+Independent+Years

Tangerine Dream's 127th album. The Independent Years is a compilation of music from The Melrose Years era, Tangerine Dream's least liked era, but still sounding better than most of the music that was around in the late 1980's. Smile

4 stars 2009: The Soft Dream Decade - http://www.tangerinedreammusic.com/en/music/detail.asp?id=189&tit=The+Soft+Dream+Decade

We're getting all romantic now for Tangerine Dream's 126th album: a compilation of some of Tangerine Dream's loveliest music,  for people in love or for those with lovesickness, which inspires me with hopeless romantic thoughts of devotion for Linda Spa. Heart

Twentynine Palms (I'd fall off a Big Log with surprise if Robert Plant didn't have a song with that exact same title) Smile

Their vault, features a lot of shows from the late 70's and 80's and I wonder if the rights for the shows is an issue ... but anything from Stratosfear on to the early 90's with Jerome, does not get the representation it deserves at this time, and I think that the quality of the shows is not as good, and it would be too difficult to clean them up and get the sound right.
Talking of West Coast tours and Linda and Iris, here they are Live in Los Angeles in 2008, which came packaged together with The London Eye concert as a free bonus DVD. Thumbs Up

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

5 stars 2009: The London Eye Concert - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyzPGKH0U58

Another brilliant audio-visual experience, this time captured Live at The Forum, London in November 2008, marking Tangerine Dream's 31st Live album and their 125th album overall.

4 stars 2009: Tangerine Dream Plays Edgar Froese - The Epsilon Journey

The Epsilon Journey is Tangerine Dream's 30th Live album and their 124th album overall. The album features the solo works of Edgar Froese performed at a concert on April 13th, 2008 in Eindhoven, Holland.

As we delve ever deeper into Tangerine Dream's seemingly endless discography, the full album links are becoming increasingly elusive, but there's a brief clip from the concert below.

4 stars 2009: Chandra - The Phantom Ferry, Part 1

Chandra is Tangerine Dream's 46th studio album and their 122nd album overall. Chandra is a concept album, centred around the early warning US airbase of Thule In northwest Greenland -  the most northerly inhabited place on Earth, where it's absolutely FREEZING all year round. Brrrr!

5 stars 2009: Flame - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6Y6wAGQjAY

Flame is Tangerine Dream's 45th studio album and their 121st album overall. Flame is the most exciting release to come from Tangerine Dream since Madcap's Flaming Duty in 2007, so why not give Flame a listen and see if it sets your world alight too. Smile

4 stars 2009: Optical Race - The Re-Recordings 2003

Tangerine Dream's 120th album. The third and final album in the series of re-recordings in The Melrose Years trilogy.

Das Boot is on zee other foot in the U-Boat war where Germany no longer rules the waves in the Battle of the Atlantic.

4 stars 2009: Lily on the Beach - The Re-Recordings 2003

Tangerine Dream's 119th album. The second of three re-recorded albums in The Melrose Years trilogy, originally released as a 3-CD box set. A good album to begin with is made even better by the addition of some upbeat Tangential flourishes.

4 stars 2007: Live at Coventry Cathedral 1975 (DVD/Video) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGByDwiiECw

Slightly out of sequence, but better late than never.... The original TD trio Live at Coventry Cathedral way back in 1975.

Yes, it's one of three bonus tracks found on The Melrose Years, though "Ruling the Waves" is really the remix of "Ivory Town" from the i-BoxWacko

There's also a strange audio glitch on "Cool at Heart" (from Optical Race) which Edgar insisted was intentional.

Either way, there was really no reason to revisit those albums. The least interesting tracks can't be improved by additional keyboards and guitars.

This is a bizarre one. Not only is it the original 1990 album, not the 2002 re-recording, but the titles are printed incorrectly on both the digipack and CD. "The Back of Beyond" is not on it, either.

The re-recordings of Optical Race, Lily on the Beach and Melrose were initially packaged as a 3xCD titled The Melrose Years, issued in 2002. The bonus tracks were (by album), "Ruling the Waves" (actually a remix of "Ivory Town," yet another goof), "Pearl River," and "The Back of Beyond."

We're going back in time 28 years now for this memorable live performance from Bologna, Italy in 1980, featuring the classic TD trio of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke & Johannes Schmoelling.

4 stars 2008: Choice (EP)

Choice is an EP of three choice tracks to mark the occasion of Tangerine Dream's three 2008 concerts in London, Edinburgh and Los Angeles, and talking of tracks, here's lovely Linda Spa (dressed in uniform again) making Love on a Real Train with her sax appeal. Heart
