Hi,
After seeing the band 4 times (first 2 American West Coast tours -- Santa Monica Civic and the Greek Theater, then during Tangram and finally in Portland in 1987) ... I wish I had seen one of the shows with Iris and Linda ... because the videos just take me away so fast ... beautifully. Their vault, features a lot of shows from the late 70's and 80's and I wonder if the rights for the shows is an issue ... but anything from Stratosfear on to the early 90's with Jerome, does not get the representation it deserves at this time, and I think that the quality of the shows is not as good, and it would be too difficult to clean them up and get the sound right.

2009: Lily on the Beach - The Re-Recordings 2003 Tangerine Dream's 119th album. The second of three re-recorded albums in The Melrose Years trilogy, originally released as a 3-CD box set. A good album to begin with is made even better by the addition of some upbeat Tangential flourishes. |

Yes, it's one of three bonus tracks found on The Melrose Years, though "Ruling the Waves" is really the remix of "Ivory Town" from the i-Box.  There's also a strange audio glitch on "Cool at Heart" (from Optical Race) which Edgar insisted was intentional. Either way, there was really no reason to revisit those albums. The least interesting tracks can't be improved by additional keyboards and guitars.

^ "The Back of Beyond" was listed as a bonus track on Tangerine Dream's official website. I couldn't find the entire Melrose re-recording on YouTube, but from what I heard of the album, it sounded like an improvement over the original, although that wouldn't have been difficult. This is a bizarre one. Not only is it the original 1990 album, not the 2002 re-recording, but the titles are printed incorrectly on both the digipack and CD. "The Back of Beyond" is not on it, either. The re-recordings of Optical Race, Lily on the Beach and Melrose were initially packaged as a 3xCD titled The Melrose Years, issued in 2002. The bonus tracks were (by album), "Ruling the Waves" (actually a remix of "Ivory Town," yet another goof), "Pearl River," and "The Back of Beyond."
