La Faulx live is amazing, it's a bit longer and definitely seems quite different in parts, more percussion and stuff, but I haven't compared to directly to the Heresie studio version so it's hard to say. The recording quality on it is great though, and I wouldn't even suspect it to be live judging from that!

Yes, I didn't read the liner notes too closely when I first listened to it, and didn't realise it was a live track until the applause...
It's a great piece, I'm looking forward to getting 'Heresie' and hearing that version...

They're about equal in my opinion, in fact I'm listening to La Faulx live now, but Jack the Ripper and the third song which I forget the title too are excellent. Jack the Ripper seems to be considered their best song, but I enjoy it and La Faulx about equally. I'm looking forward to blasting Univers Zero in my college dorm at night.

They are my new favourite band, for sure.
Anyway, I have two Marcoeur albums to have a first listen of after this, so maybe then I'll drag myself back on topic...

my recent favorite bands: Univers Zero, Animal Collective, Stereolab, Tangerine Dream, Radio Massacre International, Brian Eno, electronic and ambient stuff in general, Peter Hammill (been trying to get more of his studio albums, have a ways to go), etc. So it's been pretty varied I guess, anywhere from indie (although Animal Collective is quite weird and Stereolab is immensly Kraut inspired, listen to Transient Random-Noise Bursts with Announcements, it's like modern Neu!, but not regressive or anything) to RIO.

Excellent. I need that in my stupidly large - yet not large enough - CD collection.
Strangely for me A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers goes really quickly for 20+ minutes of eargasmicism.
Yet something like La Faulx or Jack the Ripper, seem to take a lot longer... yet are just as enjoyable.
Strange how that works.

Sounds good, but since I have Caution Radiation on the digipak CD (with a horribly translated liner notes!), it would make sense to just buy the other three separately. I also want to buy Art Box, but I have their three albums on LP so I probably won't, pretty steep price too and I really want to hear the miscellaneous tracks.

40-50 minutes is ideal. The good thing about vinyl is the break in between sides makes me get up and flip the album, which can reset my attention span - even double albums require 3 breaks in between. Compared to most my peers, who can't sit still for a 6 minute song, I'm not too dissatisfied with my ability to pay attention.

I was going to buy that Etron Fou Leloublan box but decided not to... I think I want all their albums separately. I already have "Batelages". Sorry, randomly thinking out loud there. Edit: the heat is getting to me... my spelling and grammar is terrible at the moment

Happy Family's debut is indeed more Zeuhl-based. Excellent album and I heard it before I heard Tossco. Definitely worth purchasing.
I must get that UZ remaster... I have 1313 on CD but in its original form. I'm really looking forward to the bonus material!
U Totem are great. They do have lengthy albums though. About 50 minutes would be fine for such albums, in my opinion.

Pat's in his early 30s, so yes, he's in his prime.
He and I both!
Must find time to listen to Arbeit Macht Frei soon...
Yes, yes, you must.

I got Happy Family's Toscco a few days ago in the mail. I need to give it a few more spins before I can evaluate it, but I enjoy it so far. It doesn't seem as obviously Zeuhl as Koenjihyakkei, but I guess it belongs there more than anywhere else, I hear the debut is less crazy and more Magma-esque.
I agree. I think I might have to get the debut too. Anyone have any comments...?
Also received Univers Zero's debut, the 08 remix/remastered edition. It's quite fantastic, almost as excellent and dark as Heresie judging by early impressions.
I need to give that another play. I love how it has pieces called 'Malaise' and 'Complainte'. Can't help imagining that this music, with its morbid soundscapes of intense painful melancholy, may have been inspired by an ingrowing toenail, or possibly a boil...
And U Totem's debut too. It's a kind of longer album so I was nodding off because of the heat and stuff, but from what I gathered when full conscious, it's pretty incredible and unique mix of chamber music, avant-garde, and female somewhat poppy vocals but it works well.
Sounds interesting!

The only Area I have is Caution Radiation Area, which is great but way too short, and 1978, which is pretty good but really different from their earlier jazzy stuff. I only got it because it was a few dollars.

No no, my dear, just older than me. I am old but you're older but at the same time, younger. If that makes sense.
Age-wise you're older. Wise-wise () you're mature. Looks-wise you're younger and fitness-wise you're younger.
Age-wise I'm slightly younger. Wise-wise I'm immature. Looks-wise I'm older and fitness-wise I'm older.
Pat's just old.

Haha, I'm not wise... merely plausible.
I have always looked young for my age - a bit annoying when you're 16, but quite fun now. (Nobody at work would believe me when I told them how old I was on my birthday! ) So, if you look older than me, that may not mean you look older than me, if you see what I mean...
Poor Pat, I'm sure he's in the prime of life!
Anyway, I am happy because I am now listening to 'Are(a)zione' (Area live album)! No, it's not RIO, but it's very cool.
And now this post is completely off topic.

Strangely, my ex is 38 and looks younger than me. She looks younger than most people though. I don't look old... really. I've always looked young. I'm just jealous 'cause you look younger than me. Oh, you are wise. Wiser than I am. Pat's in his early 30s, so yes, he's in his prime. Must find time to listen to Arbeit Macht Frei soon...
