yeah it's a weird one to categorize - especially with orchestral piano stuff....I appreciate the feedback. I've been posting this stuff but not sure whether to say it is alternative or prog rock. Everything is rather vague these days ;) haha

Knowing how the "Progressive Rock" term is widely used these days here in Australia for the range of heavy/djent-inspired bands with generally throaty singers (Karnivool, Voyager, Caligulas Horse, Breaking Orbit etc), what I hear so far fits that genre pretty well. But I also hear more keyboards here than those bands, which is a nice change. If you are looking for one of the categories used by PA, perhaps "Heavy Prog"? |

The Grateful Dead would be in PA as a prog related act.

I remember liking this a lot at the time - atmospheric, lots of great guitar work and a song which had an intro that went for almost 3 minutes - it may not be prog but well...

Great combination there! SH knows a good painting when he sees one. I had that original painting as my "desktop" at work for several years, looked very nice too. Edited by David64T - December 11 2014 at 06:57 |

This is my personal favorite, Suite Madame Blue by Styx (on PA as Prog-Related), including the "Prelude" that precedes it on the album.

I would like to know whether anyone here would regard this music as progressive rock: https://soundcloud.com/opus-grand
I'm having a tough time categorising it
