Its more a case of being mindful that these MP3s arent our property and not take things for granted. It would be unfair on the bands to put any more up....take Genesis for example we have 9 tracks. This is too many and I will remove some and refresh others soon.I think 5 is the most we should have. PT have 5 and "you-know-who" must have seen them and he hasnt said anything... |

Could you please name the logos you put into the sig, Tony? Great idea, by the way!
Oh, and if band has released, say, 5 albums, but none of them sounds like another, would it make sense to include a sample for each one despite your policy? I mean, some bands can be summed up in one song in spite of their long and fruitful career, whereas others released less albums but changed more...

I sent some more. I am finding some of the lesser known bands, that I review occasionally, have no songs. Just in case you were wondering why I keep on sending them.

One thing to bear in mind: we cant put too many tracks up for each band and certainly no more than one from any album.
My personal guidelines for the ratio of band's albums to MP3s offeres is: ALBUMS MP3s 1 - 2 1 3 - 5 2 6 - 8 3 9 - 10 4 over 10 5 Edited by Tony R - January 09 2007 at 13:28 |

^^ I like the look of WMP 11, but its so different from the previous version, that it takes time to find out how to do things that were so easy once. But some things are not so good. For example it doesnt show you the total album time (in the now playing tab) unless you press "stop".

Thanks Ian,I am still getting to grips with WMP11. I am not very happy with it. Many times when I go from the player to files using Files>Open and selecting the playliust file from the album folder, WMP refuses to accept that the files are stored in that location, whereas if I find the folder without going through WMP and double-click the playlist (M3u) file it plays file. The trouble with theLibrary option is that it doesnt seem to present the playlist files for playing but just lists two sets of songs for each album... ...clear as mud, but the short view is that I dont find WMP11 particularly user-friendly. |

once music is on your harddisk, that means you can do anything with it, it's code free. |

nice to see microsoft has acknowledged "progressive rock" and put it in the tag genres dropdown list.
oh tony, nice to see we share the usage of 7zip and DBPower, it's a nice sense of IT intimacy Edited by andu - December 25 2006 at 20:34 |

Great tutorial. Except. You don't have to stop playing the music. Just click on the Library tab and then click on "Now Playing" and you can access the album by selecting all the tracks and right clicking. Edited by Snow Dog - December 25 2006 at 20:39 |

Ok, how to edit tags using Windows Media Player 11.
This has changed slightly (and for the worse) in this version . However, first select the track for playing in WM Player. "Stop" the track and "right click" on it. Select "find in library" as in the image below: This will open the Library view in WMP: Righ-click on the track name and select "advanced tag editor" Fill in all the boxes you can, including the "http://www.progarchives.com" in the "comments" tab box you can see below: Then click "apply" and your file is now properly tagged. Now to complete the job. Locate the file where it is stored and right-click on ot and select "properties": in the box near the top type "band name" - "album name" - "track number" - "track title" .mp3 as below: Done.
