Thanks guys! But for me it is "just" a professional thing - at worst it might injure some egos...
Hehe, don't worry, I'll continue to bother y'all. (I might meet some Russian and/or Ukrainian delegation at the end of April - although I doubt that either of them will be present... But then again, this is just in my professional domain, which is very far from international politics or military things).

Thank you for the kind words, everyone. It certainly is no emergency sort of thing, I just don't commit to things if I don't know that I can fully engage with them. I may be needed less than we think, we'll just have to see how it goes, but want to be available "on call," for my friends, should they require my presence more than normally. I will certainly keep an eye on the polls!
I like your idea of Regrets, Greg. I had thought to bring a poll of artists you'd wanted to introduce, but the poll never fit, which is a variation of this. Edited by Snicolette - March 10 2022 at 08:14 |

Take care, Nickie, you will be missed. EDIT: And Kees too, of course.
--------------------- Theme: Regrets? The song not chosen (for an earlier theme) I plan to do the next round, maybe on Tuesday if I can, where perhaps the theme involves songs or tracks that we brought up in past interactive polls as potential nominations but opted not to use in past polls and (if applicable) we may regret not choosing. Otherwise it also could be one for past themes that we rather wish we had thought to mention for the polls, and it may be ones that we would have liked, or would like, to mention for polls we didn't participate in -- that way people who have not already participated can still participate, they just have to find their theme. I plan to have a list of subjects in the OP taken from past themes. For some of us who have various such "Duh, I wish I had chosen another" cases, we may then have further regrets about the one we nominate for this "song or track not chosen" round. For this round, unsurprisingly, I will ask people NOT to discount one's they have already heard when it comes to voting. I plan to provide some basic info and or links to all the past topics. So it offers flexibility: a) One can bring up a track or tracks for potential nomination one had mentioned but not nominated in an earlier Interactive poll. b) One can bring up a track or tracks for potential nomination that one wished one had thought of for an earlier Interactive poll. c) One can bring up a track or tracks for potential nomination that would have fit an earlier Interactive poll that we did not participate in. I expect that I then would mention ones that would fit a, b, and c. Two of the "a" variety that I regretted not going for were an Ennio Morricone in a soundtracks poll and Melt-Banana in a poll, but then I thought of one that I thought would have been better still for that (now I forget). EDIT: And I will request that people mention the past themes they went with that goes with the videos they are putting up for potential nomination and say a little about why they are posting those tracks. And would amend the b above as: b) One can bring up a track or tracks for potential nomination that one wished one had thought of for earlier Interactive poll or thought of but didn't mention.* Due to limitations on expected videos (and because I have wanted to give others work "work" in listening and commenting), several times I have not mentioned ones that I felt fit the theme. I wanted to give people a heads-up so they can start thinking about their choices. Otherwise, I could do something easier, like a 90s to 2009 period poll. :) But I won't. ^ Oh, that's a pity. I'll miss your input, but I hope all will go well with the "things". I'm currently also much less available - will jump in from time to time but I have much less listening time lately and for the unforeseeable future, being in a kind of "crisis management" mission for a cultural institution...

I am going to have to be stepping away from the Interactive Polls for a bit. We have some company coming, that I will have to help out with. Hopefuly it won't be long, and I will be checking in. If I can participate, I will, all depends on how things go here. Nothing bad, just overly busy in the household for a bit.
Will look forward to seeing what everyone brings in the meantime!

@Christian A Lightning
Round poll is always an option. In the long term it might even make sense to do them at regular intervals, e.g. every 4th-5th edition? Edited by Mila-13 - February 25 2022 at 14:44 |
