Apparently ELP went to visit him as his chateau and they were surrounded by pictures such as the one they plumped for BSS.
Alien came straight from his nightmares based on the Necromancer. Ridley Scott liked that one. Coincidentally ELP's Tarkus (part organic ,part machine) was also the basic construct of the 'Alien'.

I first encountered his work as the cover artist for Brain Salad Surgery. Then of course there was Alien. Fantastic artist. R.I.P.
