Close to the Edge for me. It barely beats Gates of Delerium and The Remembering though. They are quite awesome as well.

It was a hard decision for me but I had to go with Close To The Edge.

I voted Awaken. If you had put Tales from topographic Oceans I would have voted for that. One part in itself is incomplete.

It is a fantastic piece! The best part of the TFTO suite IMO..
CTTE will always be my top Yes epic, but TRSOG aint far behind it! It's such a shame that the build up at the start makes people laugh so hard they almost wet themselves, when I find it so moving!
|
SO TRUE! The start, I think, does sound corny but its a wonderful, brilliant song. Rick's keyboard solo near the end and Jon's vocal melody throughout is astounding, but not quite up there with CTTE.
Co incidentally as CTTE is ahead, and someone said about the parts, what is THE best part of that song? If you could only hear one section, which one?

Awaken should be on here, as for the choices given, i'd have to go with Gates of Delirium, it's a bit tighter in the arrangements than Close to the Edge, but I do love that song as well, coming in at a close second.

Gates of Delirium. its very chaotic at some times and very soft and
melodic at others.
CTTE will be a close second.
I dont know if its considered an epic (the music got more than 12
minutes) but Heart of the sunrise is incredible.

I love CttE, The Remembering, Gates, Awaken, Mind Drive and That That Is...
I like Revealing Science, Ritual and Endless Dream.
I don't ever need to hear The Ancient again.
