Topic: Pink Floyd: Favourite/ Least Favourite Cover Art Posted: August 14 2016 at 20:05 |
Saucerful of Secrets and Animals are a tie for best.
The Wall and The Final Cut vie for worst.

Obscured By Clouds is pretty awful, just blurred blobs. Atom Heart Mother is probably my favorite.

I have always loved the cover for "A Saucerful Of Secrets". It is beautiful full album sized. There's a weird nostalgic tint for Animals cover, but it isn't the stunt skills and preparation for Wish You Were Here. I really think More and The Wall have the worst covers. The Endless River has a better cover than both of those put together. However The Final Cut has a better cover than The Endless River. The cover that I want to hate for it's waste of bedspreads during second term Thatcher, but can't hate it too much because you just look at the cover and think "What the hell are they doing?". Still, at least Pink Floyd have less of a swinging scale that Yes Album Covers must of gone!
All in all A Saucerful Of Secrets is my favourite album cover. Easy option of choosing worst for More.

My favorite Pink Floyd album cover is probably either Wish You Were Here or Momentary Lapse of Reason.
Least favorite is easily Final Cut.

Back on topic: I want to say The Wall or The Final Cut is my least favorite cover, but both say so much about the music inside the album. I also want to say Momentary Lapse or Division Bell, but I know that it's the music on both that I find lacking.....in fact, the cover may be the best thing about Momentary (though I have been softening on both albums over the years). You see - these are my four least favorite Floyd albums, and I've been throwing out the baby with the bathwater....dismissing the covers 'cause I don't dig the music. When being more objective, I find that the Ummagumma cover - though I like both the studio and live sides - leaves a lot to be desired. And it's the only one besides Piper that features the band members on the cover. The more the members of the band got out of the way of the music, the better both music and cover became. Having said that, my fave cover: Animals.....also my favorite Floyd music. See - it's tough to separate the cover from the sounds.
