I've only just started listening to Kaipa and they fly! TFK have come back strong after an absence and I like both the recent albums. Trouble is that the supposed classic stuff like Unfold The Future sounds like every clichéd criticism of prog that had been trudged out over the years by people who generally don't like prog. ie long winding drivel that disappears up ones arsehole. Overall I can't vote but I am encouraged to check out Kaipa if their other albums are like the recent one.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

This is one poll where I wish there was a "BOTH" option.
I love both!!! Call me a Symph Weenie if you want but they're both incredible.
The Flower Kings by a whisker.

What little I have heard from The Flower Kings (the last 2 albums) has left me rather cold... but perhaps I need to hear some of their more classic material. From Kaipa I have their first 3 albums, and they are nice enough, but there's better prog around (despite my expectations, I liked Solo better than the other two... it did sound more mature, I guess). But I got the Kaipa do Capo album (not exactly Kaipa, but a reunion of sorts of original members, including Stolt), and I really liked that one a lot... better than the original 3 albums, and better than Flower Kings last two albums.

I just learned to know both of them. I'm a huge fan of the older Yes (before 90125). Hereby I have to mention the new album of Stolt together with Jon Anderson Invention of Knowlegde, an album Yes should have made with Jon. But making a choice is like saying that something tastes better because it just does. Both bands I like, but Kaipa I fell in love with instantly after hearing Sattyg. I quickly learned to know all the albums, from the darker, beautiful first albums to the overwhelming albums from after 2002. The old and new Kaipa are 2 different bands to me. Furthermore, after the leaving of Roine Stolt, the sound of Kaipa got different. Still beautiful but different. The Flower Kings I can still listen to doing other things, it relaxes me and sounds familiar, a bit like an old friend I haven't seen for a long time. I'm still exploring the Flower Kings, and I'm falling in love with Garden of Dreams and the album the Rainmaker. Kaipa I have to listen to like I'm watching a very good movie, like I'm travelling through unexplored landscapes that I know but don't know and that I want to absorb quickly

The Flower Kings are currently the only band together with Genesis that I can't listen to a whole album in one shot. The early Kaipa are excellent instead.

TFK, because Space Revolver is sufficiently jazzy for cheesy symph prog.
