Winnipeg went with the Jets. Too bad, I was hoping they would choose "The Poohs".

I was very disappointed in the loss being a Canuck's fan for 35 years. I, and I think the team lost confindence in Luongo after games 4 and 5, especially in game 6 after the 3rd. goal as I could hear the bench say, "ahhh". Totally deflated, as was I. When you lose confidence in your goaltender the team plays differently, most reserved, not aggressive offensively, nervous, tentative, stiff, etc. as I could see in game 7.
The difference, and it was a huge difference, was in the goaltending and probably more than other Stanley Cup final I've watched. I place 95% of the blame on Luongo. He chocked... he more than choked. There is no excuse, he's getting paid big bucks to at least keep it close. Hell, it wasn't even close. Sure he played well in the other home games. Three good games, four brutal games. That doesn't cut it.
The Canuck's signed him last year to 12 year contract at roughly 5 million a year on average(sliding scale system). "Crazy", I said at the time. Five years, OK, but 12! He's past his prime IMO and with that big contract how/when is the team going to move him in the future, but in the meantime we have a very good, young developing goalie in Cory Schnieder which the team is most likely going to lose this summer. Luongo was the face of the franchise. I think that has now changed.
I'm not making any apologies for those idiots that went on an immature crusade and so they could film themselves with thier cell phones and post it on youtube. I think the riots would of happened if the Canucks did win. Just a bunch of punks looking for an excuse to raise hell. Throw 'em in jail for a week. They'll think twice next time.
Congragulations to the Boston Bruins and especially Tim Thomas who had one the best years as goalie in the history of the NHL. Conn Smythe winner and no doubt the Vezina as well. Best save % all time and just a great guy who paid his dues to finally make it to the big league through hard work, perceverance and determination. Way to go Timmy.

Well hopefully Recchi will retire and we'll never hear from him again. I still can't believe the Bruins won the cup, this just doesn't make any sense to me,well except that amazing goaltending can take you all the way.

Dear Boston,
Thank you for keeping me from getting arrested while trying to gouge Raffi Torres' name off the cup with my fingernails. |

Probably the least deserving member of the team, too. If he were a few inches shorter he wouldn't have any chance to make an NHL roster. "Skill" is completely tied in to his freakish reach. Recchi might be less deserving, actually, since he should've retired 5-6 years ago and has simply been along for the ride.

I wish i could pull up the front page of todays Toronto Sun with the picture of Chara on it with the cup above his head with his eyes closed.I don't think i've ever seen anyone as happy as he is at that moment. He looks like he's going to explode.

To be fair, I was not confident of the Canucks' chance once they got blown out in the two Beantown games.... Edited by Sean Trane - June 16 2011 at 16:52 |

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

That's why! There was too much security during the game, so no one could break out their pipes!

I was looking for you on the news Mike. I figured that I see you overturning police cars. (Like I have room to talk being from the Detroit area).
