I was at an Indian at the weekend actually. It was fantastic. Sweet and Sour Chandri Chicken plus poppadoms and lime pickle followed by Chicken Vindaloo with basmati. All washed down with a tall cool glass of sweet lassi and of course, a pint of Cobra. Never been so stuffed in all my life, but yeah, it was well worth it! |

Tough choice but my vote goes Indian...chana masala, vegetable samosas and naan with cucumber-yogurt sauce and tapioca pudding...mmm! Though I like Thai even better

I'll go with Chinese, though I've only had Americanized stuff from those hibachi buffet places (it's cheap) and a few restaurants. I'm a really picky eater so I pretty much only go for the vegetable noodle/rice dishes (lo mein, fried rice) and some of the chicken stuff.
Never had indian food as there are virtually no restaurants that carry it near me other than a specialty grocery store with ingredients. Any good vegetarian or stuff for picky eaters from india? Most of the variety in my palate comes from craft beer =/ So yeah, I'm not voting because I haven't had both and have a skewed view. |

The funniest thing is that General Tso's was created in the United States for American customers, cause Americans didn't like traditional (Cantonese)Chinese food.

Love both. Depends on the establishment, too, of course. But my favorite food these days is definitely Ethiopian.
But I'll vote Indian just to get a vote in.

When we had money to eat out, we used to go to this now defunct restaurant called Bamboo Garden that did Indian/Chinese fusion dishes. Yummo. There's another restaurant in the complex now that does the same, but we haven't been able to afford a visit yet.

Indian, hands down. Tandoori Chicken and Catchumba (dunno about the spelling.....) certainly whips any stir-fry and Asian noodle salad.........

2 decent Indian places near me but all the Chinese ones are typical 'American Chinese'.
At any rate Indian is more interesting to me.

You can't be serious. Chinese food in America is generally a joke, compared to what you find in China. Chinese cuisine is incredibly varied and rich, I don't think any other country can match it for its variety. (Friends who have lived in both India and China tell me that only India can come close to China's variety, but I haven't been to India yet. I do love Indian food though :-) There's so many regional cuisines in China, and since China's perhaps the most diverse country on the planet, it stands to reason that they can be very different. Mongolian, Sichuan, Korean (i.e. the provinces of Liaoning and Jilin), Tibetan, Cantonese, Dongbei (northern cuisine), Xinjiang (Muslim cuisine), Hunan, Fujian, Hangzhou style, Shanghai/Jiangsu/Nanjing... Hotpot, barbecue, all kinds of street food; delicious baozi and xiaolongbao and various other breaded dishes... All kinds of noodle dishes, rice-based dishes, amazing soups; Every vegetable known to man, prepared in all kinds of delicious ways... So many varieties of sauces... Seafood galore... I have to stop, I'm torturing myself! I found this, CNN ranking the best cuisines in the world. Their rank: 1) Italy, 2) China, 3) France, 4) Spain, 5) Japan, 6) India, 7) Greece, 8) Thailand, 9) Mexico, 10) USA. (USA in the top ten? really? The undermines their credibility. Chinese food, for the extreme variety (much of which one can only get in China)... But wow do I love Indian food... and Thai food... And French cuisine... And Italian... One of the best restaurants I've ever been to was a Vietnamese restaurant... Another top restaurant - and simply indescribable - was a Japanese sushi and seafood restaurant in Japan.
