Post-prog.
Here's another quiz in Finnish that determines which classic prog album you are (I got "Thick as a Brick"). |

Symphonic Prog
The genre most synonymous with classic prog! The elements defined within this genre created the framework for the majority of other prog genres to follow. Famous bands of this make include Yes, Genesis, and Emerson Lake & Palmer. If you are Symphonic Prog that means that you are an emotionally charged, though intelligent individual. You are always very nice, though a little pretentious... You need to get your ideas out and even if you are a little self-indulgent in the length of your presentations, you always have a purpose. Also, you are very (perhaps overly) dramatic and your mood changes often from happy to sad. |

I found the quiz more a way of seeing what subgenre I'd be lumped into if the answers to the questions actually had anything to do with my taste in music...and a way to pass some time. I guess my prog tastes by looking through my collection though, and by what I listen to most often. |

Thank you sir for your invaluable contributions to this thread. The forum would never go on without your opinions of Facebook and the quizzes you can find it. I salute you sir.
Anyways.... I got Tech/Extreme prog metal, like I would expect.

For people like to subdivide Progressive music into millions of different sub-categories... This will tell you which one YOU belong in, but will not necessarily determine your musical taste. Will you belong within the ethereal threshold of Space Rock or do you dwell in the blackened pits of Extreme Progressive Metal? |

This is the first Facebook quiz I ever took.
Post-Prog (AKA Nu-Prog) A genre born within the new millennium. These bands combine modern music with the creativity of classic prog. You represent a cooler image for the genre versus the "geeky" sci-fi-induced acts of the past. Big groups include Tool, Radiohead, and The Mars Volta. If this is genre it means that you are in a sense a radical. You pay your respects to the elders and certainly learn from their ideology but you take it and twist it into your own. You are also likely younger and therefore very popular. |

f**king post prog... I'm the guy who likes evocations of spaceships on Atlantis, I'm the guy who has visions of light triumphing over dark, not whatever the f**k Radiohead is on about! I AM SYMPHONIC GODDAMIT! (the light triumphing over dark was symphonic, right? :P)

Nice quiz!
I got Extreme/Tech Metal, even though my favorite sub-genre is Symphonic. I guess tech metal fits better with my personality. |

Not interested in Facebook. Not interested in joining and logging in. It took me years to join this site. Are we so ignorant of our own tastes that we have to take a quiz to find out what we like? I guess it's a way of exploring the vast options available to us in this world of plenty, but it's not a game I choose to play. That's what Prog Archives is for!
