first: I almost went to see Ivor Cutler in 1981, but didn't. First was some local reggae band, I forget their name.
worst: I was at Live8, Mariah Carey's set was atrocious, plus I discovered I was surrounded by huge Mariah Carey fans who sang along loudly. best: I was at Live8 and I've been a Pink Floyd fan since 1972 last: I saw Metallica the day before yesterday, at the O2 |

Best Concert: Rush in 2003 in Baltimore. They ruled.
Worst & Last are the same one: Unholy Alliance Tour in Spokane, WA 2006. It sucked. Too much metalcore, the sound system sucked ass, and Slayer was in poor form.

First - Barclay James Harvest at Newcastle City Hall on the Octoberon tour 1976.
Worst - Difficult but in recent memory The sensational Alex Harvey Bands roadcrew totally ruined the gig with a wall of noise sound.
Best - many that could compete for this but Rush at Newcastle on the A Farewell To Kings in 1978 has got to be one of them.
Last - Petangle at the Sage in Gateshead in july this year, brilliant!

I haven't been to many concerts but i have things worth mentioning:
First: Diego torres (i went there because i was just a kid and my dad liked that music) January-2003
Worst: Diego Torres
![]() Best: Roger Waters March-2007
Last: Dream Theater March-2008
I've also been to a The Police concert in December-2007, it was cool, but it doesn't fit in any of these categories.

Edit again: I saw Journey and Cheap Trick on Tuesday night. Heart was supposed to perform also, but one of the Wilson sisters had a throat infection and so they cancelled. I always like seeing Journey perform and they put on a very good show. The new singer has a good voice and does sound quite a bit like Steve Perry. He was also all over the place on the stage; very energetic. I was kind of disappointed with Cheap Trick. They were the opening act and quite frankly were as bad as most regular unknown opening acts. They only played 3 songs that were recognizable to me. I didn't recognize the rest of their songs. Probably was a good show for fans, but quite disappointing for the casual fan.

Wow, what a great thread, you've seen some great shows amongst you all!
![]() First :- Pendragon December '87 Marquee London. ![]() Worst............ oh, is it really polite to say? I try to find the good in everything........... but 2 REALLY jump in my mind.............. Flowerkings, CRS awards 2006, "H" Oxjam 2006 both were SO dull I left before the end (despite the beer on offer), although FK's did get the kids crying, so maybe some amusement was gleaned after all, but the 9 hour round trip for half a gig cancelled out that small merriment. I agree with Fandango, dull, dull, dull. where oh where has the "rock" gone? Best:- Either..... George Michael @ Earl's Court (really cos I never thought I'd get a chance to see him and it was REALLY emotional! ) or Pendies at The Peel June 08 (read Sigod's review, it wasn't only me that thought it was a pretty spesh night!) ![]() Last :- Minnuendo Festival 08. For those that were there, you know it was a pretty special event thanks to mother nature and some good old fashioned grit and stubborness on the parts of the musicians! Threshold eventually left stage at about 5.30am I think! Bl**dy Marvellous stuff! ![]() I have seen some stunning gigs over the years, lots and lots of "bests" not really many "worsts" and looking forward VERY much to the "nexts" ![]() Edited by prog-chick - September 12 2008 at 17:10 |

First: Bersuit Vergarabat(i dont remember if in 2000, or 2001) : a catchy and versatile rock band from Argentina most famous for an anti-government song.
Best: I don't know whether to choose Yes' 35th anniversary one or The Flower Kings in late 2006. Steve Howe was incredible in the former, while the Flower Kings made a fantastic, intimate, passionate show, tho the sound was too loud in it. Worst: Probably that Bersuit Vergarabat. Not that it was bad, far from it. It was a fun show with condoms in the air rather than balloons ![]() Last: Progressive Nation '08 Edited by Zitro - September 09 2008 at 15:07 |

Well, as far as i know, so far, there has been only one show in 30 years.. (I was right at the front, wohoo) but a while ago Bobbie write something about maybe releasing some new material and touring america... but it was all very preliminary, i think. However, Wootton will be playing two gigs at a small venue here in sweden in december.. so yay me, and all who live in stockholm, i guess :)
But i will be keeping an eye out, as should all. Comus live is still (though i never saw them back then, for obvious reasons) just mindblowing. Edit: oh, and they have a myspace! :) Edited by Evans - August 31 2008 at 14:16 |

First - Albert Hammond (I went with my father) I think it was 1975
Worst - Yngwie Malmsteen, it nearly ended up in a riot, he left the stage saying "God bless America and f*** you all!" Just Google Malmsteen Porto Alegre, what a letdown!
Best - Ike and Tina Turner (76 I think it was), Thin Lizzy (Bad Reputation tour) Rush 2002
Last - Angra

First - Rush on Signals tour 1982 (I was 12, my dad was awesome and took me and my friends)
Worst - gah hard to say, like FZ says "Music is the best!" but prolly have to be Screaming Trees in 1990 (does anyone remember these guys?) Best - Wow, thats like picking your favorite children...prolly be Tool in a small club in 1996 or the Grateful Dead March 14, 1990 in D.C. (sorry, I've seen them like 2 dozen times), King's X in a really tiny club several blocks from my apartment, or Porcupine Tree the first time (2-3 weeks after discovering them), or...well, you get the idea... Last - Radiohead Most Special - seeing Nektar and Caravan the same night (prolly for the last time ever in the states) the same week as my birthday! (And Nektar played stuff from Recycled and Caravan played Nine Feet!!!) Or was it seeing the Flower Kings twice in a room with maybe 200 people... Or Blackfield in a club the size of your apartment... Or It Bites in 1990 in the states (I was there, were you?) Question my prog credentials do you? ![]() Edited by Nipsey88 - August 30 2008 at 01:18 |
