Yeah, having an overtly "academic" (the scare quotes are very much intentional Wink) approach to the arts isn't that good an idea because if your default angle to art is that of detached analysis it can become difficult to appreciate something on its own terms. I've learned that the hard way. Ouch

Qwantz actually can be pretty intellectually stimulating also, BTW.  They discuss literary analysis and philosophy quite often.

Also, Qwantz is amazing.  Part of what I love about the restricted artwork is the off-panel invisible characters it creates, like God who talks in all caps, and the devil who only wants to talk about obscure video games... and of course Mr. Tusks the tiny elephant who makes bad puns (He is the mayor of tiny towne island!) LOL

I think it would be fine for being part of the joke once, but repeatedly? it gets a bit stale after a while. you don't put mustard in everything you cook either

So?  It's well-written.  That's what matters to me.  I could care less about the artwork.
