I'll take a leaf out of Dean's book a few weeks back and reccomend this excellent new album from Secret Green as my album of the week. Essential listening for anyone who enjoys The Enid.

Blotted Science The Machinations of Dimentia album cover
Itīs being quite difficult for me to listen this album less than 2 or 3
times a day (fully or some selected pieces)

I tend to agree - and the more I hear it the more I prefer Anette as a vocalist over Tarja Approve

I'll third that, especially the coment on the vocalists. I always though Simone Simmons was the best of the (female) operatic singers.

Anyway, I've been listening to Madder Mortems Desiderata a lot this week, stunning album.

Nice to see that there are other PA members who can see the musical worth of Nightwish.  Approve
Dean - though Anette is a great vocalist - I personally still prefer Tarja and could see her really
powering her way through several tracks on this album eg: "The Poet and The Pendulum"; "Cadence of Her Last Breath" and "Eva" - However - as some parts of the album were written about Tarja and her husbands' relationship with the band, her involvement on this album would never happen... I am happy though, to see the band progressing without Tarja and so far, doing fine work, musically. Big smile

Madder Mortem kind of dropped off my radar - I loved their first three albums then forgot they existed. I've been meaning to get Desiderata - perhaps I will now.
What?

No surprises for my Album of the Week:

Ex-Enid guitarist Francis Lickerish returns after being away from the music scene for 30 years with a terrific symphonic/folk masterpiece. Worthy of mention is Hillary Palmer's stunning vocals on this (somewhere between Sally Oldfield and Annie Haslam in style) - a beautifully clear semi-classical voice.

Devin Townsends' Ki, for the second week running.
Open your eyes, it's full of surprise, everyone lies,
like the fox on the rocks,
and the musical box.
