I think I am the only one here that respects Kyuss very much but almost 'hates' QotSA.
I believe that Kyuss' sound was more underground and more 'true'... if you know what I mean. QotSA's sound is much more commercial and too 'punkish' for me.
I find their music rather 'flat'. I still need to listen to them more carefully...but...

Queens of the Stone Age are paying a visit to Detroit this week and the Detroit Free Press ran an article regarding them.  The article centered around their keyboard player who is a Michigan native, but I thought that some fans might find it interesting.  Please see the below link.

Cream. A bit quirky, but an excellent disc. Ant's in the Kitchen just rocked me and is a great workout track.

I worked at a record store at the time that Sufferbus came out, One of the Reps gave me a promo on cassette. I listened to that tape until I wear it out, Eventually I replaced it with a CD.

I only have one Master's album, "Sunrise On The SufferBus" With Ginger Baker on drums, One of my most favorite albums of the '90's.

I downloaded quite a few tunes from both bands. They each have tunes I really dig and others that leave me flat or holding my ears. Another band to check out for Qotsa & Kyuss is Masters of Reality. I think Josh Homme guested on some of their albums.

I'd say that's spot on.

QotSA sound like a band who've listened to a bit of prog and don't mind it. Kyuss less so, but they're one of my favourite bands, particularly Welcome to Sky Valley or whatever you want to call it.

Cathedral (UK Stoner/Doom) are bewilderingly progressive. Check out Endtyme or their latest: The Garden of Unearthly Delights.
 
 
Flavour of the moment seems to be The Sword - more of the Black Sabbath style stoner rock with some slight progressive leanings, but interesting nevertheless.

With all the other new genres or subgenres being created, why not another one? LOL
 
As someone else sarcastically suggested "one band per genre".  Actually though, any thoughts on any other bands that might qualify as "stoner prog"?

Thanks for the link to that thread.  I didn't see that come up when I did a search on Queens of the Stone Age.  I guess that I must have missed it.
