And it is changing at a rapid rate, believed to be the most rapid in millions of years, because of a sudden large increase of one factor! That makes perfect sense and I don't see why you think that qualifies it as bad science. Just because it has many factors affecting it, doesn't mean one factor suddenly changing can not have an impact! The fact that it is so delicately balanced by a range of factors means it makes even more sense that it changes if one of the factors increases.
Your logic is like saying a change in tempature won't change rate of photosynthesis just because there are other factors as well.
Sure it isn't the most easily statistical thing to analyse. But there is tonnes of observational evidence supporting a rapidly changing climate, and there is some statistical evidence linking it to all these CO2 levels and other gas levels. It would be bad science to ignore statistical correlations and observational evidence. Do we have any evidence of other factors affecting climate changing at a rate similar to the rate at which global climate is increasing?

Yes the climate naturally changes, but we are having an overt amount of influence on how it changes.

Nonsense. The world has accepted it now. You're fighting a lost battle, and a very wrong one. Can I ask you what is 'poor' about the science? What 'misinformation'? Please explain what you mean by this.
Although actually a lot of the 'global warming is wrong' science has been complete BS. Remember that 'Big Swindle' programme on channel 4? Where they just completely mis-interpreted data and used it incorrectly deliberately to try and give the impression nothing was wrong. And when climate scientists told them about this and complained about it, the channel 4 response was literally 'f**k off'
Are you disagreeing with the fact that the worlds climate is changing, or the fact that we are causing it?

And the world is flat, the Moon landing was staged in a Texas desert, and the Tooth Fairy does exist.

Cow's poop turns into methane gas. Vegetarians do not eat cows. Without us meat-eaters there would be zillions and zillions of cows populating the world and pooping more methane gas.....until one day one of the cows farts and creates a worldwide nuclear explosion.
DAMN VEGETARIANS!!

Yeah, that's what is, cow poop. Not the millions of internal combustion engines, smoke stacks, and fluorocarbons.

Well, I imagine that cows would likely be extinct at the rate we're eating them if we didn't breed them commercially. So, we're probably at fault here. And there are a lot of animals pooping besides cows.

My girlfriend's a vegetarian so that pretty much makes me a vegetarian too. She makes the most delicious veggie foods, so I'm doing fine if I don't see a piece of meat for weeks. Nowadays I eat meat at work almost every day, but if the world ran out of cows and pigs, I'd have no problem switching to beans and stuff.

That was just to expand on what you were saying. People often use the argument that plants are also alive.

Why is that? Mother's milk is INTENDED for our consumption.

Mind you I do get a bit narked about veggies. If I invite a veggie to a meal I either have to make a special meal for them or go veggie myself. If you go to a veggie for a meal you normally have to eat what they do.
I know a few veggies who drink milk (usually cows). Obviously casting a blind eye to the fact that for a cow to produce milk it has to have a calf - which ends up as veal. |
I absolutely agree with moderation. Our culture is meat-crazy, more than is necessary for a healthy diet. I remember hearing a statistic like it would take 1.3 Europes to produce the grain necessary to feed all of Britains meat live-stock. It's crazy.
And yes, it annoys the hell out of me when people act very moralistic on animal rights, then drink milk from cow's with it's calves taken away, or eat an endangered fish species without caring.
And to the guy who said how is eating a living fruit any different to eating meat? That's the whole freaking point of fruit! To be eaten and spread the seeds. |
Plants don't have brains. They are not sentient beings. I do eat dairy (organic), but no beings have to end their lives in order for me to have a delicious meal.

Many religious folk would argue that the purpose of non-human animals is also to be eaten by us.
|
Those people would also argue that the world is only 7000 years old.
If the purpose ofnon-human animals was to be eaten by us, why would there be so many animals we don't eat? Why would there be animals in places humans don't/didn't even live or go to? That's an incredibly arrogant vew of nature.
Eating the seeds obviously has a purpose to the plant because it is how it passes its genes to the next generation, what the hell benefit is there to the animnals of being eaten by humans?

Right on, fellow vegetarian!
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the smoking issue, too. I can't stand it personally, though I must admit I enjoy a good beer (sorry!)
I don't see why the music of my choice always should have to be associated with hippies and the like.
By the way, what's wrong with being a girl and vegetarian?
