What in the heck is your beef with Neil's drum kit? So what if he has a lot of parts to it. He likes it that way and he uses it. It is your blasted opinion that he doesn't need it all. Obviously he thinks he needs it. I agree with him. |

Just because you use all the parts of the kit doesn't mean you actually need all of those parts.

For those interested, on Neil's website http://www.neilpeart.net/, a remastered version of just the drum portion of The Main Monkey Business has been posted. Give it a listen.

Oh dear - Neil's not aging too well, is he...?
![]() I'm sure the current kit is considerably smaller than the one he used to have, when there was a full double bass acoustic setup, with full Simmons kit (that dates it!) behind, plus miscellaneous percussion. As far as whther he needs it - of course not - so long as you don't mind him being unable to duplicate the studio work on stage. Or would you prefer he always stuck to his original kit: ![]() |

not nearly as cool as the gold plated ones last time around. I was hoping to see those beauties live again.

If anyone has ever seen Neil Peart playing live, you would see that he uses every bit of it. I miss the big gong that he used to have. |

Well, Bozzio's kit is so big I can see it from here, and it does seem he needs it to play that wonderful stuff he usually plays... |

I sure do miss that old kit of his (His Tama kit from around Permanent Waves through Signals). This one is still pretty cool, though.
Also, for those who wonder if he needs/uses all of that stuff, this isn't Alex Van Halen here. Peart utilizes his entire kit. Always has. E |

If you watch the RUSH IN RIO and R30 dvd's, Neil's drum kit is exactly the
same. He has a single kick drum, four concert drums, two floor toms, one gong
drum, a KAT percussion synthesizer on his left and an electronic kit behind him.
His shell skins will be different, but it's pretty much the sane drumset.

Obviously they do - that is if you are Neil Peart and can play them all with great proficiency. |
