1. Royal Scam
2. Pretzel Logic
3. Aja
4. Gaucho
5. Can't buy a thrill...
in fact, their ABC-preiod is really ALL exciting, brilliant stuff, the only one I don't think of as being AS good as the others was "Katy Lied" but if you know the story about that "Lost Album that had to be re-done in time" there's nothing to complain about either. I can only recommend EVERYONE to buy "Citizen Steely Dan", there you have it all packed together brilliantly ! ( One of the best box-releases ever, never a dull moment ! )
...I'm a musician/singer/songwriter, visit me on www.reverbnation.com/rupertlenz and there you can choose from 125 recordings you can listen to ( for free ) if you're not limited to prog-rock !

Aja is the only one I've heard.  Its more of a Steve Gadd thing than a Steely Dan thing.

Aja, the Royal Scam, and Countdown to Ecstasy.
The compilation Showbiz Kids is pretty good too.

Strangely I never really got into Katy Lied.

Pretzel Logic's my favorite closely followed by Countdown To Ecstacy

hahhaha... one of my favorites from the Dan... brilliant if but a bit twisted hahah.. though I guess if you are posting here...you're a fan anyway and know it.

EVERYONE'S GONE TO THE MOVIES

Kids if you want some fun
Mr. LaPage is your man
He's always laughing, having fun
Showing his films in the den
Come on, come on
Soon you will be eighteen
I think you know what I mean
Don't tell your mama
Your daddy or mama
They'll never know where you been

CHORUS:
Everyone's gone to the movies
Now we're alone at last

Listen to what I say
He wants to show you the way
Right down the hallway with open arms
To teach you a new game to play
Come on, come on
Soon it will be too late
Bobbing for apples can wait
We know you're used to sixteen or more
Sorry we only have eight

CHORUS

Kids if you want some fun
See what you never have seen
Take off your cheaters and sit right down
Start the projection machine

CHORUS

Did you feel like Jesus
Did you realize
That you were a champion in their eyes

On the hill the stuff was laced with kerosene
But yours was kitchen clean
Everyone stopped to stare at your technicolor motor home
Every A-Frame had your number on the wall
You must have had it all
You'd go to L.A. on a dare
And you'd go it alone
Could you live forever
Could you see the day
Could you feel your whole world fall apart and fade away

CHORUS:
Get along, get along Kid Charlemagne
Get along Kid Charlemagne

Now your patrons have all left you in the red
Your low rent friends are dead
This life can be very strange
All those dayglow freaks who used to paint the face
They've joined the human race
Some things will never change
Son you were mistaken
You are obsolete
Look at all the white men on the street

CHORUS

Clean this mess up else we'll all end up in jail
Those test tubes and the scale
Just get them all out of here
Is there gas in the car
Yes, there's gas in the car
I think the people down the hall
Know who you are

Careful what you carry
'Cause the man is wise
You are still an outlaw in their eyes

CHORUS

Fagen and Becker confirmed that this song was loosely based on Augustus Owsley Stanley, infamous LSD chemist and Grateful Dead sound man.

So much music. So little time.

Wow, I didn't know they were touring. I just checked, and they will be in my area in September. Thanks for the heads-up.

Steely Dan:

1. Countdown To Ecstacy

2. Pretzel Logic

3. Katy Lied

Nothing wrong with that. But, it does seem more well rounded with Becker. Do you have "Morph the Cat?" I like it more than "Kamakiriad," but not as much as "The Nightfly."

Clap For me it was a tie between Can't Buy A Thrill and The Royal Scam, but I decided to go with TRS. CBAT is certainly an excellent album as well.
