Yes, it's the only Canadian poll where Saga picked up more votes than Joni Mitchell and Neil Young combined.

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the first time EVER Saga has won a poll!
As a huge fan of their debut album, all I can say is, "IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!"

I know, but Joni is just too good to leave out of the poll.

It's probably gonna be Joni every time for me. -in the mid-seventies she might have recorded a song or two that borders on soft rock, but classic rock she ain't (and thank god for that).

Thanks Doug. I've just hunted out that band out and added their debut album to the above list. By the way, I like The Hunt's debut much more than Rush's first album.

I am Canadian, and this poll's entries are very well known by me. Excellent selection. I picked Rush. There is one missing which I wanted to mention, and that is the self titled debut album by The Hunt (1977) It is not that great of a debut, but the band's third album is fantastic....called The Thrill Of The Kill from 1982....

A belated (3 years late?) celebration of Canada Day and with Saga currently leading the poll by just one vote, will another band Rush in to steal their Canadian crown?
Unusually for me, I only used 23 of the 25 available poll slots, which means I can include Max Webster in the next poll.

Saga takes this one. There's no other synth-intensive vocal album that year (1978) that's as good.

Even though I briefly hesitated when I saw FM's Black Noise, I must go with Saga's debut album. Although the late-1970s synths sound very primitive today, this album remains a flawless masterpiece from first note to last. And yes, I will take yet another opportunity to mention Ian Crichton's awe-inspiring guitar solo on "Tired World (Chapter Six)"!

There are some good ones here, from a classic rock perspective......Triumph, April Wine, BTO are very good. But Rush debut has that hard rocking, metalish vibe and you can't go wrong with Working Man.

From this list, I went with FM. Rush would be a close second.
Max Webster's debut was pretty good too. (not in this list)
