Just an obscure snippet.. i posted it only to show that although these bands are perhaps 'lost in time' and known just to an (ageing?) Cognescenti of prog fans, it seems that people from very differing musical and ethnic backgrounds are discovering some of these sounds. I'm not making any value judgements on whether its right or wrong, good or bad but it does generate some new interest.. quite a few people who watched the Talib Kweli video also checked out thw whole Fruupp song and commented in a positive way! But dont go sampling any King Crimson if you know whats good for you!

^ No, I'm not too familiar with Hip Hop artists, which is probably a good thing.

In terms of being undiscovered, did you know the track 'Sheba's Song' from Modern Masquerades was sampled by Hip-Hop artist Talib Kweli (featuring Norah Jones) in a song called 'Soon the new day' in 2007!

Second and best album IMHO. It's flows perfectly from first track to last.

I'd forgotten about this thread, until I came back to it and gave it a new title.

Missed this thread a few months back....I have the 2 double cd releases of the 4 lp's.,...I think some tracks were left off..but they are good compilations anyway. I would pick up original vinyl on these if I ever saw one....but they are pricey these days.
Good symph type prog but not essential classics as some think..imho.

Okay, I've made a compromise with my Fruupp album rankings: I've rated their legendary debut album "Future Legends" as a well-deserved 5-star album and downgraded the following three albums to 4-star ratings.

As promised, here's the first of my favourite songs from each of Fruupp's four fabulous albums, starting with Future Legends ...

That's fine, but there's a reason why Fruupp are not as well-known as Genesis.

^ Fruupp sound as good to me as any of Genesis' classic albums from the 1970's - I gave all of those Genesis albums a 5-star rating too.

We'll have to differ on that one then, they're good but hardly essential prog classics.

I listened to all four Fruupp albums together yesterday and it was really hard to pick a favourite album when they're all deserving of five stars in my opinion.

Thanks Paul, not a band I've listened to before. They sound interesting so far but are all four of their albums really 5 star classics?

My pleasure. Fruupp are one of the great undiscovered treasures of classic British prog. They passed by virtually unnoticed back in the proggy 1970's. Fruupp are one of those rare bands whose last album is just as good as their first album. Thanks to ProgArchives and YouTube, they're gaining some well-deserved recognition in the 21st century. I'm glad you like them too.
