^ I know what you mean. Affinity appear to have left their Jazz-Rock roots behind in 2011, but I still enjoy the songs in the Basketville Sessions, and as far as I'm aware, original singer Linda Hoyle is still there in the line-up. Smile

What do these songs have to do with jazz-rock?

You just reminded me to include the track listing for Affinity's first album. Smile

Me too! Who's your favourite Jazz-Rock band? Mine is Santana by a long way, with 32 Santana CD's in my collection. Maybe I'll do a Jazz-Rock poll sometime soon. Wink

Please do!  I'm a guitarist and lean towards guitar-centric jazz-rock, my favs included Mahavishnu, Brand X, and RTF!
I have an electric guitar too, although I may be stretching credibility to call myself a guitarist. Smile

Undoubtedly, Santana will be at the top of my Jazz-Rock list. Now I just need to figure out the order of the other artists in my list before posting a poll. If I wasn't into Jazz-Rock, then it may have taken me awhile (and a little help from Google) to figure out that "RTF" stands for Return To Forever. Smile

Some nice footage of Affinity from 1970, introduced by Annie Nightingale:

Maybe that's where they filmed Love Island. Smile

I get the impression from Greg Lake's autobiography 'Lucky Man'  that ELP really knew that it was time to stop after the release of 'The Works' albums and the related North American tour, but that contractual obligations and a hefty amount of record company pressure made them release one more album. Hence 'Love Beach.'....And Greg Lake insisted that Love Beach really exists as a place.

In respect of Affinity, thank you for highlighting this band. Played a couple of tracks already and enjoyed them. When it comes to Jazz-Rock , I am more used to the Mahavisnu Orchestra so at first listen, Affinity lean more to  the mellower side of  Jazz Rock. But want to check out more of their work.
