I continue to be amazed by pretty much without exception all the unreleased material on this box. Most of this is easily up to the standard of their regular albums; and even where one could argue whether it is, it's very charming to listen to them exploring unfamiliar terrain and making it properly Art Zoydian. Such a feast!
I'm impressed that Ian already wrote a review .
The live material is good, too, although I have the impression that the band often sticks very closely to the published studio version (if there is one); clearly composition trumps improvisation here, and then the sound quality of the studio work is often better. (Which of course doesn't have to bother you if you neither have nor intend to buy the studio version.)

Just listening to CD9 with unreleased material. Unmistakably Art Zoyd but still somewhat unexpected, quite transparent, pure and accessible at times. Love this!

I have a question that is totally unrelated to this thread but I figured this is probably the best place to ask a simple question to Art Zoyd fans. I just got into the band and I'm wondering how the 1976 version of Symphonie Pour le Jour ou Bruleront Les Cites (or Art Zoyd 3, the debut) compares to the 1980 version. I have the 1980 version and am digging the hell out of it. I don't like owning two versions of the same album so I'm always bugged out when there are several recordings of the same album. Should I consider getting the 1976 album?

I'm so glad this venture was successful. Props to the folks who preordered this monster. This is the first I see of this (just recently read my mail and the dozen or so messages from Cuneiform regarding this boxset  ) so I haven't participated. Tbh though I have some 20+ Art Zoyd albums in my collection, I'm not sure I need any more. Still...
