Le Orme - Contrappunti:

The entire album is excellent, another nice mention is my fave from Le Orme: Felona & Sorona

Roller for me. Only complaint (as I have about a lot of old Italian albums)...just too short.

Pollution for me with Roller following.  I'm a big Battaiato fan even if that isn't my particular favourite (really love Sulle Corde di Aries and Clic is very good, but I like all of his that I know).  With Goblin I actually somewhat prefer the preceding album and prefer the subsequent two albums -- if one includes the recording under the name of Real Impero Britannico -- love Perche si...).  That was my favourite Le Orme album at one time, but Le Orme is a band that I rather lost interest in when my tastes moved away from types of symphonic prog.

I went with Roller but like your previous poll(Jazz) this was far from easy. I really like Pollution, especially the later tracks that are so dreamy, in fact the whole album was like that I would have picked it.

Three terrific albums, but my vote, that will come as no surprise to my friends on here, will be for Goblin's `Roller', not only one of the finest instrumental prog albums, but simply one of my absolute favourite albums. I never tire of it, and the fact that I got to see the band perform most of it live (as well as sign my LP of it) in Melbourne a couple of years ago was a dream come true.

That Le Orme is superb too, a lot of different sounds and ideas throughout, and the Pollution album is fascinating and hypnotic.

Le Orme, but Battiato is a close second. My favourite Goblin is Profondo Rosso

I don't know Goblin, guess I should.
not crazy about the other two but voted for Battiato.  Almost any other 1970s Le Orme album would have worked for me

Goblin Roller

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

I've just listened again to the entire Le Orme discography and am blown away, especially by the masterpiece that is Felona e Sorona. Contrappunti is a tremendous album as well, though not nearly as good as its three predecessors.

Goblin is a band I just haven't warmed to. But Roller is my favorite of theirs, followed by Mark the Cockroach. That would be my second choice in this poll.

Battiato is another that I'm not as enthusiastic about as some, so this would be number three.
"I have seen the broken sky turn blue."
