Topic: Black Sabbath: Debut or Paranoid? Posted: March 02 2014 at 14:07 |
Hello again! 2 more similar albums, this time of the same artists and from the same year (1970) and both similarly rated. Recently, I've been swaying much more towards the debut as my favourite of the 2 (and of their whole discography) but it always changes for me.
Anyway, just pick your favourite out of the two, and comment why if you like I literally can't decide at all, so I won't vote this time.
As always, thanks for any feedback!

Paranoid. I think that one is more focused.

Paranoid, easy. The band's style and sound had clearly solidified, or sludgified as the case may be, and the songs are overall much better.

I'm a huge fan the original Black Sabbath have been for decades, what a tough choice to make! I really like the debut, but i cast my vote for Paranoid,so many classic tracks there.I recall the first time i heard Electric Funeral when i was about 13 it actually gave me the creeps lol.

Really hard choice for me, since I love the music on both. Maybe the s/t, for very personal reasons, but both are excellent.

I like both, but I like Paranoid a little bit more.

I never really cared for any Sabbath album except for Paranoid.

Debut. Ozzy's voice is a bit rougher and weathered, which works real well with the songs.

My brother was a Sabbath fan and played Paranoid to death so maybe that's why I prefer the debut. For some reason I have always absolutely hated the guitar drone that starts off Iron Man. The debut has that amazing cover design, a great demonic ambience, Behind the Wall of Sleep is one of their best ever songs, plus the fantastic title track.

Definitely Paranoid. War pigs, hand of doom, planet caravan, paranoid versus evil woman, nib, behind the wall of sleep
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
