This is it:
http://www.rockhall.com/inductees/
The other prog (related) nominee is Deep Purple (for a second time). Also coming-back nominees from last year are The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic (How many times they were nominated again ?), The Meters and N.W.A. New nominees are Hall & Oates, Kiss (The most well-known band who isn't in the Rock hall), LL Cool J (WTF), Nirvana (no surprise), The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Cat Stevens, Link Wray and The Zombies.

I agree with you. But so what, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Frank Zappa and Rush are inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame. The only thing: DON'T LET LL COOL J AND N.W.A GO INTO THE ROCK HALL. If they both go, I will call the rock hall: THE AMAZINGLY STUPID SNOB HALL OF SHAME.

Think Linda Ronsdadt will get in as she just announced she can't sing anymore as she has Parkinson's and that could get the sympathy vote--but this Hall of Shame will never accept prog---let's face it, Yes should have gotten in before Rush, as you could argue there would be no Rush without Yes before them --but Rush is an acceptable rock band and not considered pure prog.

I think the problem with rock & roll hall of fame is that they think that they know what rock music is.

I correct myself, hip-hop has the rebellious attitiude that most prog bands don't have. So that's why hip-hop is inducted before prog.
My answer: Why do you think that it is so important, Mr. Wenner. Ignoring prog bands for so many years.

I'm not sure, I guess it requires a rather rebellious nature to do prog. I mean, in order to do prog you must disregard many of the preconcieved notions of what makes music popular.

Yes but as I saw, the reason why Yes was nominated is partly because of an organisation founded by a democrat and a republican called Voices For Yes. It aims to induct Yes in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. But, if the fan's ballot would close now, Yes and Peter Gabriel, along with Nirvana, Kiss and Deep Purple would have all a fan's vote. So, Yes and Peter Gabriel would be really close to have a fan's vote that would count as equal as a "so called" expert vote.

I don't think that KC and Robert Fripp will ever be appreciated by the HoFShame, mostly because of his long history of problems with the recording industry, and the fact that the HoFS is more interested in their top ten format and fame to keep the money coming home, than they are in having to help KC/Robert take money away from their coffers.

This was one of the great issues in the early 70's here in America, and the bad publicity that was generated, saying that it was taking profits away from the record companies, as if they were the saints that deserved all the foot kissing possible, instead of the gigantic rips that most of them were! But since they were aligned with the media these articles always made the lesser bands look bad, with some really nasty reviews.

The difference is, that 30 years later, there is too much appreciation for that stuff they hated and they are in danger of making themselves a simple top ten Hall of F--k--g Shame because of it. I'm already betting that Cat Stevens will be ignored because of his religion, but Las Vegas won't do money on that!

I've said it before, that all the progressive websites need to come together and create their own awards and make a history of it, and show folks, how important the music is, because no one else is going to do it, and these acidholes are not interested in music. They are interested in how much money they got from it, and YES fits the bill, because they robbed them just as much as ... enough headitorials!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

To the opening poster, Kiss is not a new nomination. They were nominated the year before last.

Yes but I mentionned the nominees from last year. Not the nominees from previous years.
Maybe that was a mistake.
