I'm currently browsing my album collection and found some pretty progressive albums which might not necessarily be considered prog here - I'll list them and await your feedback. Edit: Just to avoid confusion - I'm not at all suggesting that these artists be added to the archives, I'm just interested in your opinions about their music. Lamb - Progressive Drum & Bass (Lot's of traditional instruments involved) http://lambstar.net/music/sounds/cottonwool.m3u De-Phazz - Progressive Lounge/House/Dance (impossible to describe) http://www.humpty.de/real-audio.ram?d=www.ucmg.com&f=ucm g&t=mole007-2&i=12.ra David Holmes - Progressive Hip Hop/Rap, Experimental, Trance, Soundtracks (He's really good, don't be scared by the word "Hip Hop".) This is his excellent avant-garde album "Let's Get Killed ...", very interesting "documentary" album about New York. I recommend you click "Listen all" ... This is from "David Holmes Presents the Free Association": http://mcms-delivery.virtuebroadcasting.com/deliverMedia.asp ?id=E04B0AA2-FCEC-400E-AB61-457C6E89B7E9 James Hardway - Progressive Drum & Bass with heavy Jazz-Fusion influence - Electronic drum loops with a real (even fretless) bass, lot's of cool saxophone solos This is from his album "Welcome to the Neon Lounge": http://www.hydrogendukebox.com/ramgen.php?catalogue=hemp013& amp; amp; amp; amp;track=04&media_type=ra

So far I have listened to Lamb and David Holmes. Lamb I like. A bit bjork, a bit enigma, a bit faithless. Good idea some new music. |

David Holmes ... sadly there are no good samples available for Let's Get Killed - it's a magnificent album, and not at al Hip Hop or rap. Let me borrow an amazon review: This album was David Holmes second release and build on his previous album ("This Films Crap, Let's Slash the Seats"), with the emphasis on building immersive film scores/soundtracks, referencing Funky downtempo broken Beat's ("Let's get Killed") , Contemporary 70's Guitar melodramatic fusion ("My Mate Paul"), lively instrumental soul ("Gritty Shaker"), or even a reinterpretation of what the James Bond theme would sound like under the musical direction of David (Radio 7). There's even an expertly implemented stab at funky dance track ("Freaknik"), but as brilliantly devised as all this tracks are.....the one truly defining moment is arguably David's finest moment, the encapsulation of New York city night time life....The string, guitar, violin orchestrated arrangements of ("Don't Die Just Yet"), a 6 minute epic that showcases David impeccable ear for composition & creation of music, that is defiantly at odds with current trends in music, but remains a blissfully realised piece of music. |

I have David Holmes Presents The Free Association - 13 amp recordings .ooh i love Petra Jeans voice its heavenly on that album. Hmmm La Dolce Vita prog? Oh hell, why not funky trip hop prog! I like the Lamb track and Da Phazz Personally i prefer Royksopp, the new album isnt bad, love the track 'Alpha Male' but their previous album Melody AM is far superior. Check out Laurent Garnier for some progressive house music, fav track of mine is 'Man With The Red Face' James Harding sounds great! and similar SquarePusher's electronica/jazz album Hard Normal Daddy, the track 'Coopers World' from that album has to be my favourite tune of all time |

Thanks Petra - La Dolce Vita is not Prog Rock of course, but it's innovative. Come Get It, I Got It is another great Holmes album - 60s/70s american music remixed and lots of strange recordings of people's conversations thrown in.

Thanks for the new music! I dug Lamb, and James Hardaway.
Da Phazz didn't do much for me... I've heard much more interesting dub-y stuff (usually coming from Ozric Tentacles!) ![]() David Holmes intrigued me... I need to give it some more listens before I can really form an opinion. Squarepusher is great stuff too! |

De Phazz have the most overwhelming sound quality that I ever heard - unfortunately you can't hear that through the low-fi samples. They are for electronic music what Ayreon is for prog metal ... I'll see if I can find a better sample. |

I love Chroma Key ... I'd call it Space Rock. Check out this spacy De-Phazz song called Free Drift: http://www.humpty.de/real-audio.ram?d=www.ucmg.com&f=ucm g&t=mole007-2&i=13.ra

Nice! I recognize one of these samples from an Orb tune.
ok, now I'm more impressed. ![]() Impressed enough to want a hi-fi recording of it. *sigh* My Amazon wish list thanks you. ![]() Speaking of impeccable sonic mastery, I'd recommend both Ott and Infected Mushroom, if you've never heard them. Ott's apparently a good friend of Simon Postford (of Hallucinogen and Shpongle fame), and has written some mindblowing dub... Ott - Blumenkraft Infected Mushroom is Israel's premier psychedelic/Goa trance artists. Simply mindbending stuff. Infected Mushroom I'd recommend "Classical Mushroom" as an intro. Edited by Empathy |

I really like Ozric Tenicles,Dlam Karet,Quarkspace,Magus and The New Sounds of London.I wish I knew more about modern space/electronic music but I am a big fan of the older stuff.I really hate hip hop but if David Holmes is that maybe I should give it a try.
